Johnny Wayne Hargan, 71, of Desha died January 26, 2021.

He was born February 25, 1949 in Little Rock to John and Lois (Coker) Hargan.

John was President of Hargan Construction Company where he has worked for over 50 years. He loved his job and his employees but the true love of his life was his family. He hated that Covid kept him from seeing the grandkids. John was a private person and just enjoyed being at home with Mitzi.

Survivors include his wife, Mitzi; sons, Aaron (Longlong) Hargan and John Ryan Hargan; six grandchildren, Kyra, James, and Emory Hargan of Fort Myers, Florida and Lennon Branscum, Ryker Hargan, and Wynston Hargan of Cord, Arkansas; one sister, Judy Brooks of Batesville, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his loving dog, Speckles, and cat, Domino.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers are Kevin McClung, Marvin Baker, Randy McClung, Ronnie Love, Royce Rizzo, and Daniel Moser. All are employees of Hargan Construction.

Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Coker, Phil Poff, Lynn Poff, Jim Smith, Johnny Ward, and Ed Hager.

There will be a private family graveside service at Alderbrook Cemetery.

A memorial tribute video will be on the Roller-Crouch website at www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/batesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Independence County Humane Society, 5 Environmental Dr. Batesville, AR. 72501, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, Arkansas Children's Hospital, PO Box 2222, Little Rock, AR 72203-9984, or to a charity of your choice.

Dear Hargan family,

I became friends with John Hargan at Hendrix College, though he was a couple of years older than me. He was a great competitor in sports, and remember him well playing baseball in our early years in Batesville. He had a great personality and I looked up to him as an athlete. So sorry for your loss, , may he rest in peace.

As a Batesville kid, I met Johnny when I was 8. I'm pretty sure we probably played catch that day. Like almost every day for the next decade

In Legion ball we called him ''pigpen''. The very first thought I had upon learning he'd passed " him standing in his catchers gear. Covered in dirt. And smiling.

Always covered in dirt. The rest of us were usually pretty clean

Johnny was in our wedding " 50 years ago " almost to the day

I am deeply saddened that he is gone

Mitzi,
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your husband. I remember mom telling me you had married. I always thought I'd stop by and see y'all. I'm sorry I missed meeting him. It's a long road but you are strong and with the help of our Lord you can handle all things. Sending hugs and prayers to you. I'm here if you need something or just want to talk.

On behalf of myself and the entire Departee Creek Board, please accept our most sincere sympathies at this time. While I didn't personally know John as well as others, every encounter was always pleasant and he struck me as a kind and gentle soul. Keeping you in our prayers at this time.

Dear Mitzi,

I sit here in disbelief as I just found out about John's passing. Words are hard to find as I think that with You and John, you really Got what you Saw. Two of the Most Wonderful people I have ever had the honor of knowing. I can honestly say you two deserved each other.

I will Pray for Strength for you and your Loved Ones to get through this time of mourning. John is in a better place now, but I cannot imagine your grief. Please let me know if we may help in any way my Friend and we will be there.

Your Friend,
Mike and Pam

Mitzi I cannot put into words how much my heart hurts for you. You and John shared a love that most would be envious of. I have never met two people more loving, giving and caring as the two of you. John is a wonderful man and will be remember as such. His love for you was unconditional and noticed by all. To know John was to love John; from his times of ''do you know how much that was!'' to his ''I think I can just wash these pickles off'' personality. He is loved and will be missed greatly; the outpouring of comments on this page is a true testament to that. I am so thankful I was given the opportunity to know John and I thank God every day for putting you in my life. I am here for you to lean on just as you have been there for me. I love you so much. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Aaron, JR, Judy and the rest of the family.

Ross, Oliver, and I will miss our Uncle John dearly. He was such a kind, loving man. Words can't describe enough. The world was a better place. Mitzi, we love you so much more than words can say.

My favorite memory of John is seeing his love for Mitzi shine through his eyes and his smile. This is how we will forever remember him.

One of the first families I met when moving to Batesville in 1974. Johnny Wayne was always a hard worker, an honest man, not many words but every one was from the heart. Of course, he had good teachers with his Mom and Dad. Someone you could always count on. Prayers to his family, we all lost a good man, but he is reunited with the family that went before him. So many great memories.

Dear Mitzi,

My deepest sympathy to you and your family on John's passing. May God's peace comfort you.

One of the greater pleasures of my 50th BHS reunion in 2017 was remembering with John some of the "glory" days he and I shared playing in the summer baseball leagues at Fitzhugh Park in Batesville. He was a great teammate whose steadfastness on the field and love of the game inspired me. Both John and I were very blessed to have fathers and mothers who played such active roles in our development as young men in those summer baseball leagues long ago.

With sympathy,
