Barbara Lavon Branscum Smith was born October 27, 1932, and passed from this life on January 17, 2021, at Baxter Regional Medical Center. She was born in Sasakwa, Oklahoma, to Willis Corbett and Beulah Reece Branscum.
She graduated from Rural Special High School class of 1951. She married Willie Franklin Smith, Jr. on May 28, 1954, at Newton, Kansas.
She was an avid seamstress. She never met a stranger and had many lifelong friends. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all her family.
Barbara is survived by her children Lynn (Patricia) Smith of Mountain View, Fran Long of Calico Rock, Arkansas, and Nathan (Sharri) Smith of Sparta, Missouri. A sister Fanny (James) Snapp of Wichita, Kansas. Grandchildren: Melissa (Phillip) Swafford, Kara Smith, Kris Smith, Joshua (Tami) Smith, and Brandon Long. Great grandchildren: Elicia Marie Gonzales, Olivia Hillen, William Smith, Abigail (Corey) Bush, Lexie Atwood, one great great grandchild River Bush. Two very special friends: Billie Sweet of Valley Center, Kansas, and Emogene McCool of Frontenac, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank, brothers Mikey and Bill Branscum, sisters Roberta Tilley, Aretha Harness, Prudence Laymon and Rose Moore and grandson Corey Shawn Long.
Service and interment will be Saturday, January 23, 2021, 11:00 AM at Passmore-Thola Cemetery at Landis.
Pallbearers are: Joshua Smith, Brandon Long, Phillip Swafford, Mathew Laymon, Mark Laymon, Lynn Smith, and Nathan Smith.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Passmore-Thola Cemetery Account at Centennial Bank of Mountain View, 121 East Main Street, Mountain View, AR 72560.
