Ruby June Pickering

of Little Rock, AR

June 22, 1925 - January 9, 2021

June Pickering, 95, of Little Rock, Arkansas, went into her Heavenly Father's arms on Saturday, January 9, 2021. She was born in Pitcher, Oklahoma, on June 22, 1925, to Harry and Ethel Worst. She grew up in Baxter Springs, Kansas, where she met and married her husband, Alfred Pickering. The most important thing in her life was her relationship and love for God and His Son, Jesus Christ, and for others to know them personally as well. Next was her family, she was a very loving mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother. Her dream was to be a nurse and she graduated from the School of Nursing at University of Arkansas Little Rock after her daughters had graduated from high school. She felt God calling her into Psychiatric Nursing and had several diplomas/certificates for psychiatric nursing. She worked at Baptist Hospital after becoming an RN and then Arkansas State Hospital in Little Rock and Veteran's Hospital in North Little Rock until retirement. After retirement she asked God what she was to do next with her life and He began to give her poems (both humorous and serious) all centered around Him. She published 5 books. She loved being with her family especially all the babies. She, also, enjoyed learning, traveling, teaching Children's Sunday School, Bible Study groups and shopping.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry Worst & Ethel Worst Willis; her husband, Alfred Pickering; her sister, Betty Porter; and great-grandson, Austin May. She is survived by her daughters, Connie Huff and Terri Miller; five grandchildren, Bryan Huff (Britney); Traci May; Karen Huff; Amy Giacoletti (Adrian Kiremerwa); James Giacoletti (Heather Acres); seven great-grandchildren, Shayna Huff; Alora Martinez; Zack May; Zoie Moody; Genesis Giacoletti; Trinity Giacoletti; Kylie McGee; three great-great grandchildren, Hailey; Marissa; and Stiles.

A private family Celebration of Life Service will be Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Roller-Drummond Southwest, 10900 Interstate 30, Little Rock, AR 72209.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of June Pickering to Eagle Point Church of God, Building Fund, P.O. Box 190115, Little Rock AR 72219.

I’m so sorry to hear of June’s passing. I worked with her at the North Little Rock VA several years ago. She was a joy to work with. She talked about the love she had for her family and friends. She was kind and generous. I remember going shopping with her for clothes to wear on an upcoming cruise We had such fun!. I loved her perfume and the next thing I knew, she gave me some in a beautiful spray bottle. I still have it. She also gifted me with 2 of her poetry books. I treasure them. I’m sorry I didn’t keep up with her in the last years. I wish I had. I always loved her. I’m blessed to have known her. She knew me as Dianne Beers.
