July 9, 1944 - January 8, 2021
Conner Blake Robertson, 76, went to be with the Lord on January 8, 2021. Conner, known as Blake was born on July 9, 1944 in Helena, Arkansas to David and Dorothy Robertson.
Blake lived a wonderful life full of family and many cherished friends. He attended Central High School in Helena, Arkansas where he was an outstanding athlete. He went on to pursue his dreams while he attended Henderson State University on an athletic scholarship for baseball and track. While there he married his high school sweetheart Alice Wheat. After Graduation they eventually moved back to Helena. Blake was the President of Helena Marine Service for many years and was elected to serve as an officer for the National Waterways Commission. Blake coached many youth sports but his favorite was by far Baseball. He loved and cherished many relationships with families from the ball park while coaching and later in life he continued to watch his grandsons play the game. He was an avid golfer and played as often as he could at the Helena Country Club with some of his most cherished friends. But most importantly, Blake was a servant of God. He was a deacon at the Presbyterian Church in Helena, where he also worked with the youth. After moving to Little Rock in 1983 he was part of the founding members of the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Blake met no strangers, and was constantly making others laugh. He led by example always. His love and devotion to all of his family never went unnoticed. Blake is preceded in death by both of his parents and his brother David Lee Robertson. Blake is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years Alice Robertson, a son Pryor Robertson and his wife Ann, his daughter Pam Shoptaw and her husband David, and 4 Grandsons that he treasured including Brenden Shoptaw, Conner Robertson, Bennett Shoptaw, and Craig Robertson all of Little Rock, Arkansas. Blake also leaves behind his two loving sisters Beth Rhodenizer (Pompano Beach, Florida) and Dot Flanagan (Stuttgart, Arkansas) along with many nieces and nephews that he adored.
Due to Covid a small immediate family graveside service will be held and later a full celebration of his life will be planned. Honorary Pallbearers are Don Cleek, John Lovell, Mike Steelman, Michael Rhodenizer, David Paul Robertson, and Greg Robertson. If you feel led to send a gift in Blake's honor to one of his favorite charities, they are Trinity Presbyterian Church in Little Rock and The American Heart Association.

Prayers for Blake’s family.
My memories of Blake are full times when he showed his true colors of being a gentle man. Yes, that is a perfect word for him. I think of lot of summer evenings at the ballpark. I think of the tenderness he always expressed to Alice. We will miss his presence.
Sorry for the loss of a long time, great friend. Our best thoughts and sincere prayers for. Alice and family and friends who loved Blake.
Alice and family, my sincere condolences to each of you in your loss of Blake. I remember so much of his family and the grocery store across from Woodruff Jr High. I ate many sandwiches purchased there for lunch. Sandwiches from Robertson’s were just better. Blake was the shortstop for the Helena Mohawks, and a very good one at that. I thoroughly enjoyed watching him play. Alice, I have loved linking up with you on Facebook and have prayed for both you and Blake daily. You are both special people. May God bless and comfort you and your wonderful family in this difficult time. Much love to each of you.
Dear Alice and family,
My heart is heavy with the news that Blake's life has ended. He will always live in my memory as treasured part of my life growing up in West Helena. How vivid are the memories of Blake's love of baseball and skill when playing. Incidentally, I remember his writhing in pain at home plate when his nose was broken when he was hit by a pitch gone awry. Also, his parents were such models for so many of us with regard to contributing to the community and ensuring that all of us were safe and well behaved. My parents, Mary and Odell thought the world of all the Robertsons!
With love and gratitude for Blake's life and legacy,
Marianne Scifres

I have many fond memories from the hours and days spent in your home, as Pam and I navigated college, young adulthood and new motherhood. Blake was so witty. I recall lots of laughter and often asking ‘is he kidding’ His grandsons are so fortunate to have his influence in their lives. Bless you all. Love, hugs and prayers! -michele
Alice, we stand in love and sadness with you and your family as you make this weary and lonely journey toward life without Blake. We have known you both since childhood, have valued our continuous friendship, and have marveled at the depth and strength of your commitment to each other. Blake’s work on earth is finished, but we can picture him already at work preparing a place for your eventual reunion, safe in the loving arms of God. Thank you both for being in our lives, Jeep and Judy Denison

Know we feel honored to have known and will always cherish this quality of love, this sweet man who made being a gentleman an assumption we wish the world would emulate.

Alice,
I first met and remember Blake when I was batboy for the Mohawks. He always treated me like I was his equal. Never talked down to me. I will always remember that. That speaks for what kind of person he was. I'm sorry for your loss and what you are having to go through right now. You and your family will be in my prayers. Hopefully your pain will subside fast.

Alice, I am sending love and prayers for you and the children.

Babysitting for Blake and Alice was one of my first jobs. We lived in same neighborhood in West Helena as I grew up and kept both Pryor and Pam until they moved to Little Rock but have kept up with them all over the years. Blake was a wonderful man husband and father and grandparent. He will be missed and I am sure he heard your race is over and welcome home my faithful child when he got to heaven. Praying for you guys as you continue on here on earth with his Legacy in mind. God bless and hugs
