November 15, 1943 - January 9, 2021

Lyndell R. Goodson, 77, a resident of Paris, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021, at his home.

He was born November 15, 1943, in Richmond, California to the late Vivian (Bridges) Goodson. Lyndell attended Paris Schools. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He served aboard a United States naval ship as a security guard for the admiral, then spent three years touring many different countries and finally his fourth year was spent in the jungles of Vietnam. Lyndell married Sheila Nicholas on August 10, 1965. After his military service, Lyndell spent his working years owning his own brick mason business, Roadrunner Construction in Paris. In his spare time, he played softball in the summers with his friends and hunted in the winter. Lyndell loved his grandkids and enjoyed spending time with them. Many friends around town will remember Lyndell's huge garden that he shared with everyone.

In addition to his mother, Lyndell was preceded in death by a sister, Loretta Cameron.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Sheila Goodson of Paris; two sons, Shane Goodson and Stacy Goodson and wife, Sharin, both of Paris; six grandsons, Steven, Clint, Scotty, Sergio, Sean and Jacob Goodson; a granddaughter, Sophia Kay Goodson and two brothers, Don Goodson and James Moore, both of Paris.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris with the memorial service to follow at 10:00 a.m. with Bro. Jeremy Jones officiating under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris

I am deeply saddened to hear of Lyndell's passing. I pray God will bless and comfort Lyndell's family.

I well remember Lyndell's fine athletic abilities and toughness. We ran track, played football, and graduated together. We were even cousins. Both of us served in the Marines in Vietnam. I always held Lyndell in the highest regard, and envied what I considered be his superior athletic abilities.

I hope and expect to see him again before too long.

My best to his family.

I am so sorry to hear this. I know your hearts hurt. Mine hurts with you. From the time I was small, Lyndell always came up with fun ways to pick and have fun with me. When I was a little girl, he always pulled my pig tails, and as I grew, he picked on me about something in a fun way. He loved to laugh and had a great one. I am missing him with you and praying for you as you go forward carrying on his legacy.

Lyndell will be greatly missed. Whenever we would run into each other, we would engage in merciless teasing and verbal sparring until we both laughed out loud. I will miss his quick wit that always reminded me of his precious mom, Vivian. I send my love and sympathy to everyone during this very difficult time. Love you, Lyndell.
