Mrs. Josephine (Jo) Caldwell, age 75 of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on January 5, 2021 at home after a courageous battle with ALS. She was born on June 24, 1944 in Norwalk, CA.
Jo is survived by her loving husband of over 57 years, Thomas Caldwell. They married on March 16, 1963 at Hamilton AFB in Marin, CA. She is also survived by one son, Ed Caldwell of Sherwood, Arkansas. One daughter, Donna Caldwell-Chaffin of Joplin, MO, and her partner, Scott Vest of Wyandotte, OK; one sister, Jessie Riveria of Mountain Home, AR; two granddaughters, Claire Caldwell of Sherwood, AR, and Lauren Chaffin of Joplin, MO.
She is preceded in death by her father, Val Jimenez; father-in-law, Cecil Caldwell; and mother-in-law, Opal Caldwell.
Jo had a career in nursing, specializing in Obstetrics for many years, then Dialysis for over 13 years. After retirement, her love for animals lead her to volunteer at the Humane Society in Mountain Home; she even had furry kids of her own that she loved and spoiled. She loved being with her family and was even able to be present for the birth of her two granddaughters. She also loved traveling with her family. Jo was crafty and loved to paint as well.
A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m., Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Roller Funeral Home in Mountain Home, AR. A graveside service will follow the next day at 11 a.m., Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Caldwell Chapel Cemetery in Jonesboro, AR with Bill Self officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made in her honor to the ALS Association of Mid-America Chapter. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller Funeral Home. There’s nothing Jo loved more than her family!

Such a talented painter and creator of unique items!

Her heart was as big as her smile and laugh.

Sending prayers of love and comfort to the family and close friends during this time.

I am so sad to hear about the passing of Jo. I got to know Jo working with humane society. She was always such a joy to be around. Later a group of us would get together to celebrate birthdays and have lunch. Jo RIP you've earned your wings. Gail
