Lisa Lenore Dowdy

of Conway, AR

July 11, 1961 - December 18, 2020

Lisa Lenore Dowdy, 59, of Conway, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on December 18th, 2020 at her home. She was born July 11th, 1961 to Glenn and Shirley Brown in Garden City, Michigan.

Lisa was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley and her brother, David.

She is survived by three children; Nicole Seiver (Sean) of Conway, Arkansas, Melissa Walls (Braden) of Vilonia, Arkansas, Joshua Dowdy (Anna Nath) of Conway, Arkansas, Bill Dowdy, former husband and friend of 36 years of Jacksonville, Arkansas, her father, Glenn Brown (Gloria) of Winchester, California, sisters, Julia McCarthy of Gilbert, Arizona, Sheri Lehmann (Dave) of Phoenix, Arizona, brother, Lee Kester of Phoenix, Arizona, grandchildren; Jadon, Noah, Austin, Taylor, Lilly, Reese and little Felix. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Lisa loved working with Foster Children and considered them part of her family. She retired from the State of Arkansas after 27 years of faithful service. She held each child in her heart as she taught them life-lessons to maneuver toward adulthood. She was always careful to tell them they were important and worthy and that they were capable of reaching their goals.

She was an avid camper and took every possible opportunity to be outside. It wasn't unusual for her to call her children and say, ''Hey I am down at the lake camping if you want to come join me.'' She had a love for riding horses, bowling, sketching and painting. Although she did not have a green thumb, she enjoyed gardening.

Lisa was a wonderful gift giver enthusiast. It didn't matter if it was your birthday or a holiday, she freely gave gifts. Oftentimes they were silly, but meaningful. Anything she could do to bring joy and put a smile on your face, she was willing to do.

One of her passions in life was searching through flea markets. She loved looking for antique furniture and knick-knacks, so she could put her knick-knacks on the antique furniture. She always held out for that one true find on a coveted Volkswagen. It didn't matter what model, she loved them all. She just wanted a VW.

Lisa was always looking forward to the next road trip she could take with her family to the West Coast. She would drive straight through with her children in anticipation of seeing the rest of her family. As Nicki, Missy, and Josh grew up, they would take turns driving cross country on their next crazy adventure with their mom.

Although Lisa had many health issues in the latter part of her life, she always persevered. It was astonishing to see how strong she never knew she was. She was a fighter, wanting to live. Lisa never met a stranger. Everyone who knew her, loved her and she loved them. She has been described as being the ''˜Sweetest Person that has ever Lived.'

Her pride and joy were her three children and the grandbabies they brought into this world. She adored everything about family. Lisa loved going to athletic events they participated in, pumpkin patches, movies, any family gatherings, but particularly just being able to hang out with them was her joy.

Lisa never was without her faith in God. She gave her life to Christ at a young age and she drew her strength through Him. She was always optimistic and tried to pass that optimism on to the world. Lisa didn't believe in fear, and would say, ''No worries, God will take care of it.'' And He did. He took Lisa Home to live with Him on December 18, 2020. Her children would like to think she is now Camping on the Banks of the Crystal Sea. Earth's loss is now Heaven's gain, and It is sweeter with her there. She will be forever remembered and loved.

A memorial service in Lisa Dowdy's honor will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, January 16th, 2021 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in their Conway, Arkansas location.

We are complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines and limiting indoor funeral and visitation attendance to 66 percent of facility capacity at one time. All attendees must provide and wear their own masks before entering.

Momma, I miss you more than words can say. It still doesn’t seem real. I still think of things I want to tell you and then I remember I can’t call you anymore. You were the one that kept things together and made life fun. I know you are much happier where you are. And in no more pain. You and grandma both are enjoying the beautiful things I can only imagine. I hope we make you proud. And one day we will see each other again! Until then you are always in our hearts. Love you so very much!

Oh Mis. Lisa... this doesn't seem right. I feel so blessed we have got to share our children and their children together. We have some great kids and grandsugars. I will keep an eye on your babies. You have done a great job with them and you are dearly loved by all of them. This is not good-bye, but see you later. Welcome Home! Brother Gordon and Honey.

Lisa was a true friend, a beautiful soul, she served the teens in Van Buren County and treated each as if they were her own. She spent countless hours attempting to teach and guide so many. She gave much, much more than she ever took and proud to call her my friend. One of the last things that I did before moving back to Michigan was to have lunch with Lisa, we laughed and shared a hug before we said our goodbyes. I am blessed to have known you Lisa, love you my friend.

I knew her from days of being in foster care when I was a teenager. She was always so sweet with her words and she gave us hope. She will be truly missed.
I have learned as I have grown that they are never truly gone we recall them in memories or during times we need someone the most. That's how their spirit lives on through us.

Prayers for the family.

Lisa “There are some who brings light so great to the world, that even after they have gone, their light remains.” and you will always remain a light in my life. You were an Angel sent to me at the time I needed you the most. God knew I needed a second mother to help guide me to adulthood and success and he kept you and your beautiful family a part of my life after all of these years.

You gave my life a firm foundation and supported my hopes and dreams; you encouraged me to be my best self and believed that I could do anything I wanted if I put my mind to it.

From helping me get my first job, to making sure I had a roof over my head after I turned 18 and aged out of the system; you saw potential in me that I never could imagine. You encouraged me to continue my education and held my hand through the entire process and was there every moment of the way.

As I reflect back, I know you loved me. I realize that you gave me gift. You invested in my life which I will be forever thankful.

Thank you for your grace and generosity in supporting my most important and crucial moments in life. Thank you for loving me and making such an impression.

I thank God for letting me have you. You will forever be missed.

Nikki, Missy, and Josh, I hold you close in my thoughts and am praying for you to have lots of love and comfort during this time.

I remember her infectious laugh and beautiful smile and lots of fun when we all hung out in Phoenix in our younger days and during visits to Arkansas as days went by.
