Ernest Roberts, 88, of Pleasant Plains, passed away at his home with his family at his side on December 1, 2020. He was born on October 8, 1932 in Harvey, Illinois to the late Vie Bryner and Lena A. Jorkiewicz Roberts.

Ernest attended high school and during his sophomore year, he enlisted in the Army to serve our country during the Korean Conflict. He met and married the love of his life on August 28, 1952.

Mr. Roberts is also preceded in death by two brothers, George and Merlin Roberts and three sisters, Eleanor Perry, Annie Fouts and Gerry Behrens.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joan Rangel Roberts; four sons, Ernest (Karen) Roberts, Terry (Sherry) Roberts, Anthony Tony Roberts and Robert Roberts; six grandchildren, Bill, Christopher, Terry, Jacob and Virginia Roberts and Mande (Wendy) Osmon, and seven great-grandchildren, Brandon, Lilly, Grant, Garrett, Gabriel, Layton and Jensen; one sister Viola Gareskie along with other extended family members and friends.

Mr. Roberts was a man who loved the outdoors in many ways. He loved to go fishing, work on things outside and he even enjoyed taking things apart then turning around and putting them back together. He enjoyed doing anything with his hands and was good at it. Terry said his dad was a Handy Guy. The most important attribute that he gave to his family was his love and devotion that he had for his family. He did not just say how much he cared for them, but he showed it by his actions.

A Memorial Service will be held at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Searcy, Arkansas at 1:00 PM on December 7, 2020. All arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Daniel Funeral Home in Searcy.
