Dorence Ida Spaeth

of Batesville, AR

December 3, 1933 - November 16, 2020

Dorence Ida Spaeth, born December 3, 1933 in Columbus, Ohio, to Robert Spaeth and Helen Goddard Spaeth, the fourth of six children, died in Batesville, Arkansas on November 16, 2020.
Dorence had a passionate love for music and shared her gift of music through playing the organ, piano and singing. She served as organist and pianist in numerous United Methodist Congregations including the Houston, Gulf Coast and East Texas regions of the Texas Methodist Conference.
After graduating from High School, she attended the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, where her musical talents flourished. She shared her talents on numerous occasions through worship services, weddings, baptisms, anniversaries and graduation celebrations.
Her many talents included sewing, where she made beautiful sequined twirling outfits for her beautiful daughters, Diana and Charlotte. She could customize business suits into current trends, and design outfits for our school plays and activities.
Mom loved to bake especially French pastries, as all her children can attest with great delight, the wonderful aromas and tastes of the goodness arising out of her kitchen. (There is a story of two little boys who will remain nameless, who managed to spread flour throughout the house the afternoon before a Christmas Party''¦!)
She was an amazing organizer who managed the household, and raised her four children to become avid readers, students of history, science, math, music and learn about the world around us. She taught us about being positive difference makers in the world around us.
Mom loved to learn and was constantly challenging herself to learn new skills for work and to keep herself mentally sharp by working and solving the latest crossword puzzles. She enjoyed numerous trips to Greece, where she engaged with the history, culture, cuisine, sights, sounds, and people.
Christmas was her favorite time of year and she loved to decorate inside and outside of our homes. Our homes would be filled with exquisite decorations. She was so creative she made choir angels out of paper Dixie cups and wooden spoons. She was a big fan of Hallmark, cards, ornaments and the Hallmark Channel at Christmas time.
Dorence is survived by her children: (son) Lance Heacock (Doreen) of Kemah, TX. (son) Wilson Heacock (Hope)Harlingen, TX. (daughter) Diana Heacock Fuselier, Ft. Worth, TX. (daughter) Charlotte Heacock Nichols (Dallas), Timbo, AR. (sister) Eloise Spaeth Perry, Columbus, OH. (brother) David Edward Spaeth, Naples, FL.

Her Great Grandchildren: Halie Kirsten Heacock, Ashton Richard Heacock, Rylee Owens, Hannah Lea Fuselier, Madilynne Mooneyhan, Matson Mooneyhan, Maylee Owens, Nova Rose Gonda.

Mom's mantra was ''Silence is Golden''¦Listen.'' So Mom, we will listen to the symphony of life and embrace the mystical magical moments. You brought, beauty, music, creativity, curiosity, respect and honor into our lives.
We give thanks and are eternally grateful for the Nurses, Caregivers, Doctors, Scientists, Researchers, First Responders, Public Safety Officers, Paramedics and Frontline Workers who valiantly serve in the battle against COVID-19.
Take care of yourselves, your loved ones, your family, your neighbor, your friends and the people you meet every day.
We thank everyone who has called, sent messages, prayed, sang songs of healing, shared light, love and positive thoughts, chanted and offered encouragement these past few weeks. We are eternally grateful and each one of you holds a special place in our hearts.
Mom you will be forever in our hearts''¦

Diana and family,
My prayers are with you. We lost our mom in September after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. I know that your mom will live on in the precious memories she made with you. May the Lord hold you close and give you peace.

Aunt Dory I think we called her when we were little, was so beautiful. I wish we had gotten a chance to know her better growing up, and all of our cousins too. I'm holding you all in prayer.

I was glad to know Dorence. She was kind, caring and generous. I loved her knowledge for baking and even was blessed with some homebaked goodies! She reminded me of my grandmother so independent and knowledgeable.
She will be missed by all who were blessed to know her like I was.

Dear Lance, Wilson, Diana and Charlotte,
I remember your mother, my aunt, as a young woman with a sweet smile and sparkly eyes and am so sorry that she passed away. You are in my thoughts and prayers during this time.
