Joe Waters, 87, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born February 20, 1933 in Poplar Grove, Arkansas to the late Ella Mae and George Waters.
Joe was a very sociable person who loved being around people. He enjoyed watching western movies, playing golf and drinking coffee with his friends at McDonalds every day. He also attended Central Christian Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
He is a veteran of the U.S Navy and served as a naval aviator from 1956-1961 and as a loading officer for nuclear weapons on aircraft carriers. He spent time on the Hornet, Kersarge, and the Yorktown carriers. His ranking for the Navy started as a Lieutenant JG and he promoted to Full Lieutenant in Squadron VS38.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Waters; three daughters, Teresa George (Jerry) of Vilonia, Arkansas, Linda Bodiford of Fort Smith, Arkansas and DeAnna Domino (Charles) of Jonesboro, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Teri Bartlett, Laura Riggs, Brooke Ward, Josh Burk, Katie Bodiford, Chelsea Domino, Annie Gray and Maggi Bodiford; nine and a half great grandchildren; one sister, Billy Sue King; a host of other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dick Waters.
The funeral services for Mr. Joe Waters will be held private.
