Dear Aunt Elsie, Jeff, Kurt and Dena,
I just saw the obituary about Uncle JD. Despite the years apart, I retain very strong and good memories of Uncle JD. The numerous Christmas Eves and the visits to your house (where Dena graciously tried to set me up with any number of her friends) provided many memories of how great a sense of humor he had. I'm sorry to hear of the struggles of the recent years with his health. I trust he is now at peace and back to sharing that sly smile of his with all the other angels. God bless you all, Shayne and Tracy Smith

I have fond memories of J.D. as we played baseball together on his Dad,s Pettus baseball team as well as the Lonoke American Legion team. His very friendly family had the Pettus general store next to the town baseball field, Oldham school house and Caney Creek Baptist Church (still there). J.D. as well as his younger brother and sister were among the finest young people in the area.
I am sorry that I have not been able to be near enough to continue our close friendship through these many years and am sorry that his family had to deal with his dementia. It’s wonderful to know that they and I can look forward to enjoying his presence with Jesus our Savior in heaven .
In the love of Christ,
Ralph Mashburn
