of Dewitt, AR
July 24, 1930 - November 9, 2020
I was born July 24, 1930 to Celey Manchester who later died in 1933. Upon the death of my mother, I was adapted by my grandparents, George H. and Levena Manchester.
I went to school in Crawfordsville, Arkansas and graduated in 1941. It was there that I met my high school sweetheart Alice Felker. We later married in 1951 and had two children, Doug Jr. and Nancy Kit. Alice passed away in 1988 and Nancy in 2016.
I was drafted in 1952 for the Korean War and was honored to serve 9 months in Korea for my country.
George Douglas Manchester
I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Manchester's passing. He was a dear friend of my Uncle Harvey.
Sorry for your loss, prayers you Doug Jr. and family
Doug,
I enjoyed being your Sunday school teacher for the last several years that you
lived in Earle. I enjoyed as well the many times we mowed the church yard together and the 5-10 minute chats we always had afterwards sitting on the
lawnmowers under our favorite shade tree. As a former Marine Lieutenant I
especially enjoyed sharing your experiences in Korea as well as mine in Vietnam.
Semper Fi my friend.
Doug Jr, so for your loss! Prayers for you and all the family!!!ðŸ™ðŸ™
He will be missed by the staff and other
residents at Crestpark Nursing Home. He was so friendly and always had the kindest words for everyone. Prayers for the family.
Doug, Lila and Family,
So sorry for your loss. You will be in my prayers.
Doug was one of the strongest men of faith I’ve had privilege to know. From his stories of Korea to trodding through Gumbo, he knew the Lord was with him every step of the way.
Uncle Doug was my hero.. I will miss him and his great smile.. He brought so much joy to others and loved Jesus .. One of a kind... and I love him dearly..
I knew and worked with and hunted with him.A very good man and friend.
Thank you, Mr. Manchester, for your service. Men like you have made America great and Americans like me proud.
