John "Mike" Michael Hardage

of West Memphis, AR

January 2, 1949 - October 23, 2020

John Michael "Mike" Hardage, 71, passed away October 23, 2020, at his home in West Memphis, Arkansas.

He was born January 2, 1949 to Glaze and Doris Shuffield Hardage in Bismarck, Arkansas. He attended Henderson State College and graduated with a Master's Degree in Education. In his chosen field, Mike accepted positions as football coach, teacher and later, principal. After moving to West Memphis, Mike altered his professional career to enter into his passion for antiques and woodworking. This led him into owning and operating Mike's Antiques, where he collected, restored, refinished and sold furniture. He expanded his business in antiques as a partner in the management of the Memphis Flea Market and later started the Mid-South Flea Market in Southaven, Mississippi. He was also a property owner and loved working on his rental homes. With all of his business adventures, Mike found time to serve his community, working many years on both the West Memphis School Board and West Memphis City Council. Mike loved watching football and was known as a caring person always seeing to the needs of friends and family.

He is survived by two sons whom he loved dearly, Glaze Hardage (Tera) and Macauley Hardage (Keri); and one brother, Jim Hardage (Sandra), of Bismarck, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Norma Hardage.

The family will receive visitors to a Celebration of Life service on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 6:00 pm, being held at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis, Arkansas. A memorial service will also be held in Bismarck, Arkansas at a later day.

Roller-Citizens Funeral Home will be following guidelines issued by the local Department of Health and the CDC regarding COVID-19. Social distancing of at least six feet must be practiced and all funeral attendees must provide and wear their own masks.

Glaze and Macauley, I’m so sorry to learn of your loss. Your father loved you dearly and was so very proud of the young men you grew to become. He “beamed” when speaking of you and your accomplishments. I’m praying for God’s comfort and peace to see you through the days to come and for your memories to carry you for your lifetimes.
