Velma Jane Robinson

of Mountain Home, AR

October 21, 2020

Mrs. Velma Jane Robinson, age 80, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, died on October 21, 2020. She was born to parents Crawford and Gertha (Gillbert) Hicks on June 11, 1940 in West Plains, Missouri.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bobby Robinson, whom she married on March 25, 1964. Bobby says it was the best day of his life. She is also survived by her sister, Lois Ellison of West Plains, MO; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
Velma is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Johnny, and Estella Gillbert; four brothers, Johnny Ray Hicks, Louis Hicks, Chester Hicks, Norman Hicks; and one sister, Allie Butcher.
Mrs. Robinson was a faithful member of Zion Freewill Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Clarkridge Fire Bells where she played her guitar and fire bells at any event that they attended. She taught herself how to play the guitar by ear, and she was very good at it. She worked as a drapery maker and seamstress; she made many pieces over the years. She was a self-taught talented woman.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Baxter Memorial Gardens. Brother Roger Daniel will be officiating.

Every one of us at The Window Place, Inc. are extremely saddened over the passing of our sweet Velma. She was a treasure and will be deeply missed. Many of us are remembering her for the fabulously talented lady she was. In charge of inspecting and cutting fabrics was no easy task; she was a highly skilled custom workroom seamstress. When asked to assist with training new hires, no one did that better than Velma, with her smile, love and patience. I for one can vouch for that. My prayers are going up for all her family.
