August 27, 1942 - October 15, 2020


Troy Mackey, 78, of Paragould, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2020, at Ridgecrest Health Nursing Center. He was born in Jonesboro, August 27, 1942, to James and Wilma (Hendrix) Mackey.

Mr. Mackey was a minister for fifty years, forty-two years with the Nazarene Church, President and member of the Ministerial Alliance, and volunteered at the Food Bank, was President of Mission Outreach and a counselor at church camp. He also enjoyed fishing, woodworking and yardwork.

His parents and daughter, Robin June Mackey Panhorst preceded him in death.

Quote after the loss of Robin: ''I believe in divine healing, but sometimes God doesn't do it. That doesn't limit his power.''

Survivors include, his wife of sixty years, Barbara (Wise) Mackey; sons, Troy Daniel Mackey and Mark Anthony Mackey; daughters, Annetta Jean Garner and Deana Joy Allison; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-nine great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; brothers, James Roy Mackey (Mr. Mackey's twin brother) and Jerry Dewane Mackey; and sister, Barbara Ann Shipman.

Services will be at Cross Roads Cemetery Saturday, October 24, at 2:00pm.

The CDC is recommending face masks while observing social distancing guidelines during graveside services. All attendees must provide and wear their own masks while attending.

Mr. Mackey was a good man. A man of God. I truly believe God welcomed him with the words that he was a faithful servant. Best wishes to the family. Live by example that he led.

We are so sorry to hear about Bro Troy. However, we know that he is rejoicing in Heaven. We pastored with him in Louisiana in the early 80’s. Keeping his family in our prayers.

Dear Barbara and Family,
We have wonderful memories form our time at NBC and as neighbors. Time goes so fast and now it is our time to say our earthly good-by, but we look forward to a grand reunion day. May God comfort, strengthen and encourage you. Troy was a Christian example for all.
