Jack D. McCaleb, 84, a resident of Fort Smith, formerly of Scranton, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2020, at Methodist Village Senior Care Center in Fort Smith.

He was born January 28, 1936, in Anson, Texas to the late Baker Erwin and Thelma Lyn (Womack) McCaleb. Jack made a career of serving his country. He retired from the United States Navy as a Chief Warrant Officer 3 after 22 years of service with four tours in the Vietnam War. In his spare time Jack enjoyed spending time with his family and was an adoring Granddad.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Helen Elizabeth (Hamilton) McCaleb; a brother, Charles McCaleb and two sisters, Janet McCaleb and Lanell Payne.

Survivors include a son, Mark McCaleb and wife, Andrea of Van Buren; a stepdaughter, Darlene Larsen and husband, Dennis of Alpine, California; a grandchild, Morgan McCaleb; a brother, Tom McCaleb of Norman, Oklahoma and a sister, Janice Todd of Mesquite, Texas.

Graveside services and military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith. Burial will follow under the direction of Roller Funeral Homes in Paris.

Mark we were saddened to learn of your dad's death knowing the last years were difficult for all of you. We count it a priviledge and blessing to have known Jack in these past few years and have missed his sweet demeanor and smile. Pray God's comforting peace for all his loved ones.

We so wish we could be with you at this time to say our farewells to Jack. Please know that we love you and are keeping you close in our thoughts and prayers. He was our adventurous brother as he got to see the world through Navy. I am proud of the service he served for his country and proud of the way you have taken care of him.
