What a shock to see Corliss' name in the obituaries. I so remember the laugh she had and the smile. Always cheerful and giving. Adopting the three children and being the rock, caring, kindness and a saint to provide for God's children. I enjoyed the year I had Bryan as a student at Langston and the conversations "mom" and I would have. I wasn't aware that you moved to Conway. My heart aches for you, Eugene and the family. Her sweet soul will be missed!

Eugene and family--When I saw Corliss's obituary in the Sentinel Record, I was immediately taken back to 1988. I had just been hired at HSSD after being home for 12 years raising our boys. I had 3 days to set up a classroom and be ready to begin teaching 20+ children. There was a brand new teacher next door to my classroom, but the experienced teachers, (Debbie, Corliss and Lori), were on the other side of the building. I had only taught kindergarten for one year 15 years earlier, when it was mostly play. Corliss had such patience and I resolved to imitate her as close as possible. There were days when I would think I would never get it all together, but sweet Corliss would pat me on the back and calmly help me with some of her tried and true ideas.
I can't even imagine how much she will be missed by all of you. She had the biggest heart but I'm sure you know that and are much the better for her having been your wife or mother. Prayers for all of you in the coming days. I know she will be watching down over you.

Eugene and family my heart hurts for you and y’all are in my prayers. Corliss was a sweet friend. I met her when we started college at CBC. She helped me many times and was a real friend. I know she’s rejoicing in heaven and pain free. We have that blessed hope we will see her again.

What wonderful memories I have growing up in the Gardner Community. Corliss was one of my best buddies and I spent a lot of fun filled play times with her and Danny. I remember Bob climbing on top of their house and jumping off to scare us but we just laughed. Jimmy always tried to get my mother to take his car to town but she was not one to borrow a car. Mrs. Herring took us to the doctor when my mother had no way to get us there. Her Dad, Jim, always so nice and her brother Bill looked just like his pretty Mom and he was sweet also. We also learned to play dominoes with Mrs. Herring’s father. They were all outstanding members of the Gardner Community. I will always have great memories of the good times I shared with Corliss and look forward to seeing her again when the good Lord calls me home. With love and prayers for the Herring/Padgett families. Ann Tart Kirtley

I have only gotten to know Corliss since she and Eugene moved to Conway but I have heard my good friends Jim and Paulette talk about her for fifty plus years. She was a Proverbs 31 lady. Her love for our LORD and people was in her sweet smile through years of physical struggles. She and Eugene had the most beautiful relationship I have ever seen. My prayers are with her
Family. She is greatly loved and missed.

Eugene and Family: Today's newspaper brought the news of Corliss' passing . . . Our hearts are saddened and humbled for you and your family. We pray the LORD will lift your heads, comfort your hearts and strengthen all of you during this time of loss and change. Yes, HE's got this! I've known you along time, Boy . . . Brook's Hardware, fishing and hunting buddies, just a long time now. Corliss was plain out good for you, Eugene. You had a true life's help mate and built a strong family. Hey, just know I ain't forgot ya, Boy!

Aunt Corliss was a beautiful soul, generous and thoughtful with everyone. She was one of my role models growing up as she embodied a true Christian spirit. I will cherish my memories of her as we grieve her loss and celebrate her life. Praying for comfort for Eugene, Bryan, and the rest of the family. Corliss has gone home and, for that, we can be thankful.

To the family, I had the privilege of meeting and loving Mrs. Padgett when she taught my son ( Jeremy) at Langston School. She was a very fine caring and nurturing lady.
May GOD wrap you up in HIS peace during this time of bereavement. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

It has been my honor to know Corliss for the past 9 years.
I couldn’t have asked for a better Mother-in-law for my daughter.
I’ve enjoyed sharing our precious grand babies with her.
You are going to be missed so much.
