Veda Cassie Capps Walton 86 of Collierville, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Methodist Alliance Hospice in Memphis, Tennessee. Veda was born December 4, 1933 in Yell County, Havana, Arkansas to parents William Henry and Rosie Louella Capps. She was the widow of Clarence Lee Walton. The two were able to raise and nourish their own family for 37 years for God called Clarence home in 1997.
Veda was a member of the Parkway Village Christian Church and was a strong God-fearing woman. She loved to be outside with nature spending time with her flowers and watching western shows. She was a teacher's aide working with special education children. Veda would proudly take the time to teach others sign language.
Veda is survived by her daughters Barbara Mott of Mantachie, Mississippi, Judy Willis of Collierville, Tennessee, Vicky Montgomery of Mantachie, Mississippi, Christine Golden (Daniel) of Moscow, Tennessee and Lynette Walton of Collierville, Tennessee. She will be deeply missed by twelve grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and others. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, Kenny and Mark Walton as well as a large number of both brothers and sisters.
Roller-Citizens Funeral Home will be following guidelines issued by the Arkansas Department of Health and the CDC regarding COVID-19. Social distancing of at least six feet must be practiced and all funeral attendees must provide and wear their own mask.
I forever miss my mammaw. Such a sweet spirit. I’ll miss the stories of my great grand mother and remembering wonderful summers spent with mammaw. Pulling up in her driveway and seeing her smiling face will always be with me.
So sorry to hear that Veda passed away. My sister, Eloise Dutka, was a good friend of Veda's. Eloise passed away in 2016 in Portland, Oregon. Prayers for the Family.
