Jim Horton

of Maumelle, AR

March 5, 1934 - October 11, 2020

Jim Horton, 86, of Maumelle, Arkansas, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 11, 2020. He was born on March 5, 1934 in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Dennis and Hazel Horton.

Jim attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock before finding his passion for sales.

Jim excelled in food sales retiring with Western Foods after 50 years in the industry.

Jim loved spending time with his family, singing and playing piano, and sports. He performed in a gospel quartet at an early age and was recognized by the Arkansas Songwriters Association for many of his original gospel compositions. Jim was an avid basketball player and enjoyed a good round of golf.

Jim was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church. He loved singing in the choir, especially old hymns.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Dennis, and his mother, Hazel. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sue, his sons, David, and Derek (Leigh Ann), and his grandchildren, Alec, Will, Evan, and Ella Grace.

The family will hold a graveside service at Riverwood Memorial Gardens in Maumelle on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 10:00am.

Terry and I are saddened by Jim’s passing but as Christians we are to also have envy but happiness for him as well. Sue, you know we loved Jim and especially Nancy loved to harass him. I’ll miss that very much. We will be next door whenever you need us, you will be thought of in our prayers and conversations. We love you and your family.

So sad to learn that Jim has passed away. A lifelong friend since Jr High School days. We have shared so many good times together over the years. Including the time we sang in the Southerners Quartet in the early 60's. Sharing God's message of Love and Grace. A good man that I will miss dearly. Blessings to Sue, the boys, and all the family. My God's peace and comfort abide always.
