of Memphis, TN

April 6, 1946 - October 8, 2020

Betty "Memaw" Sue Duke, 74, of Memphis, TN, passed away on October 8, 2020, surrounded by her loved ones, in her daughter's home. She was born April 6, 1946, in Wilson, AR, to Lee V Nichols and Ethel Elizabeth (Blaylock) Nichols.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, James D. Duke.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her two children, James Rodney Duke, of Memphis, TN, and Rhonda Ashcraft (Jim) of Millington, TN; her two grandchildren, Caleb Ashcraft (Bailey) and Colin Ashcraft (Hillary); her great grandson, Briggs Ashcraft; her three brothers, Ray Nichols, Lealon Nichols (Janette), and Kenneth Nichols (Janice); and her two sisters, Moveline Eggert and Mary Aldridge (Gene); and a host of many other family members and friends.

Betty was a faithful member of Oaklawn Baptist Church and was considered to be quite an avid sports fan, especially when the Memphis State Tigers were playing. She was considered and called "Memaw" by many and was loved by everyone. She will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held at Oaklawn Baptist Church, 5714 Benjestown Road, Memphis, TN, on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, with a funeral service to immediately follow. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery adjacent to the church.

Roller-Citizens Funeral Home will be following guidelines issued by the local Department of Health and the CDC regarding COVID-19. Social distancing of at least six feet must be practiced and all funeral attendees must provide and wear their own masks.
