Mary Gretel Tate, 89, of Osceola, AR passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2020. She was born on February 19, 1931 in Grenada, MS to Benjamin and Mary Lay Stinson. Mrs. Tate was a Nurse's Aide for many years at Osceola Nursing Home. She was a member of the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church where she was in the choir and a Sunday School Teacher. Survivors include her sons: James Tate and Benjamin Tate, both of Osceola, AR; daughters: Josephine Love of Columbus, OH, Mary Woodson and husband Charles of Osceola, AR, and Angela Tate of Marion, AR; 21 grandchildren: Sonya L. Woodson, Charles D. Woodson, Alicia Woodson, Calandra Woodson-Hilliard, Danita Woodson, Larry Briscoe, Marcus Harris, Mary Gibson, Darlease Davis, Nenomoshia Carter-Thomas, Kashina Carter-Mays, Janice Carter, Elnora Carter-Jefferson, Zaneta Carter, Krystal Carter, Antonio Smith, Zachery Smith, LaShawnda Tate, John Matthews, Jr., Rasheed Clark, and Jada Tate; 55 great grandchildren; 44 great-great grandchildren; two brothers: Jimmy Stinson of Detroit, MI and Clarence Stinson of Glenda, MS; and four sisters: Annie Coleman, Jessie Stinson-Phillips, Bessie Stinson, and Ada Brown, all of Chicago, IL. She is preceded in death by her husband: John M. Tate, Sr.; sons: John M. Tate, Jr. and Ezell Tate; daughter: Janice Carter; parents; four brothers: Henry Stinson, Thomas Lee Stinson, David Stinson, and Benny Lee Stinson; and seven sisters: Etor Martin, Louise Docher, Cora Bell, Ula Pitts, Lucille Miller, Caldona Brown, and Dorothy Tidwell.
Funeral Service will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Osceola. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Tate will lie in repose from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Friday, October 16, 2020 at Roller-Swift Funeral Home. Interment will be at Whiteside Cemetery in Osceola.
