Wiley Luningham

of Conway, AR

March 23, 1935 - September 21, 2020

September 21st will always be a beautiful and difficult day for the family of Wiley Luningham. Born in Moreland, AR, on March 23rd, 1935, he was spiritually reborn on September 21st, 1989, at a Billy Graham Crusade in Little Rock, AR, when he came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, inviting Him into his heart. Then, on his Spiritual Birthday, Wiley stepped into Heaven to meet Jesus face-to-face.

Wiley graduated from Atkins High School and went to work in a local department store, Sterling's store. He began in the stock room, but his people skills and intuitive business mind opened the door for him to become and Assistant Manager, and then a Manager in the Sterling's retail stores, and ultimately his leadership moved a poor performing store to one of the best stores in the company. In 1972, he accepted a buyer position in the company's home office and moved the family to Little Rock. He continued in that position until his retirement.

He loved wood working and gardening, and he was great at both. But mostly he loved people, and investing in their lives. And, he never met a stranger.

His life is described perfectly in I Corinthians 13:4-7. Wiley was patient and kind, never envious, boastful or proud. He never dishonored anyone, nor was he self-seeking or easily angered, and certainly he never kept a record of wrongs. He always rejoiced with truth. Wiley always protected, trusted, hoped and persevered. Wiley was ''love'' as described in this scripture. He walked in truth, was Christ-like day in and day out. He was a model citizen of the scriptures known as the beatitudes found in Matthew 5. Wiley walked this earth as salt and light. All that knew him can testify to his legacy.

Wiley leaves a beautiful family that loves, cherishes and honors him. He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Barbara (Durham) Luningham; daughter, Dr. Sherrye Craig and Dr. Jeff Craig of Conway, AR; son, David Luningham and Jenny Luningham of Mansfield, TX; and the best grands anywhere, Dr. Justin Luningham and Katie Jo Luningham of Atlanta, GA, Danielle Luningham of Fort Worth, TX; Laura, Bailey and Andrew Craig of Conway, AR; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

If you can be anything in this life, be Wiley.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00pm, Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Conway, Arkansas.
