of Mayflower, AR
February 12, 1957 - September 9, 2020
James E. Williams (a.k.a Chuck, Chucky or Woodchuck) of Mayflower left this earth on September 9, 2020. Chuck was born February 12, 1957 to Buford and Wanda Lee Williams and resided in Mayflower, AR all of his life. Chuck is preceded in death by both parents, sister Brenda ''Susie'' Taylor and brother Jimmy ''Jimbo'' Williams.
Those who knew Chuck were truly blessed and were the lucky recipients of his big warm smile, larger than life personality, great sense of humor and a helping hand if ever in need. He spent most of his adult life serving as a law enforcement officer for Mayflower, Faulkner County and the Prosecuting Attorney's Office. He also served in the Army Reserves for four years. Because he loved nothing more than helping others, one of the hardest times in Chuck's life was retiring early due to his health. He was honored to wear a badge and took pride in his service whatever the capacity and it was a huge part of who he was.
Chuck's greatest legacy is his family. As a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother (in-law), uncle and friend, he leaves us with warm memories, funny stories and a lasting example of what it is to unconditionally love and support others.
He is survived by his loving wife Patricia Williams, son Cody (Taylor) and grandson Cade, all of Mayflower. His baby sister and brother, Kathy Ingram and Johnny (Teresa) Williams; brothers by marriage, Randy Jones and Terry (Tammy) Jones, and lots of nieces and nephews who adored their ''Uncle Chuck''.
During the last 3 years of his life, he was cared for at Greystone Rehab and Nursing Home in Cabot, AR. The nurses, CNAs and other staff took amazing care of him and his family is eternally grateful.
My family was friends with Chuckie's family way back in the sixties. Some of you older ones may remember Harley and Mickey (Doris) Robertson. Mickey was my sister. I was especially close to his sister, Susie, and we had lots of fun times together. Buford and Wanda. How I enjoyed them. Chuckie was always around. He was the funny one of our group even then. It's hard to realize they are all gone, even Jimbo! I'm so sorry for yall's loss. Prayers for peace and comfort for all of you.
Chuck was one of the first people I met when I began working for the Judges in Faulkner County. We spent many lunches together on the third floor of the courthouse when I worked as court reporter for Judge Reynolds. Chuckie was always helpful if I needed anything and always had a funny story for you. He will never be forgotten. His family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

It was a honor to work around you. You was always so positive and always happy. God bless you and your family.

I met Chuck when he was assigned to my Platoon of combat engineers. For four years Chuck was a winner! Ready for work, never fearing our mission, and always dependable, Chuck was and is now one who could find joy and laughter in any situation. What I respected the most of all Chuck's qualities was how he was best when pushing the limit of possibilities in any circumstance. When his platoon sergeant Danny Moody and I searched the men for those we could count on, Chuck was at the head of the line. I regret only his short term in this life and the fact I had no idea of his recent health problems. I visualize getting a big laugh out of Chuck as if he never ran out of them. May Jesus give his family peace in the joy of his place with our Lord.
Go rest high on that mountain Brother. You served your country and community well both in the military and as a police officer.
We served alongside each other wearing both those uniforms and we had some great times. You’ll be missed “Chuckâ€

I was saddened to learn of my friend, and fellow Officer's untimely passing. There was not a more dedicated public servant than Chucky. He leaves a void that will be felt for generations. And, wow, the tales that he could tell (most of which we lived through together). He always had my back...unconditionally, and in EVERY bad situation, he was ALWAYS there.
My prayers are with his family in the difficult days that are ahead of you. May God wrap his graceful arms around you.
Go rest high, Brother. Your work here is done.
Tricia,
My heart goes out to you and your family. You were blessed to share your life and love with Chuck.
