Velma Faye Futrell, 95, of Brookland, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2020, at The Springs of Jonesboro. She was born on March 8, 1925 in Jonesboro to William (Bill) and Ethel Marie (Shelton) Cox. Velma was a member of the Brookland Methodist Church. She was a lifelong farmer and also retired from G. E. She was the Cattlemans Association treasurer and also enjoyed gardening.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bennie Futrell; brother, William Thomas and sisters, Ruby Pierce and Sylvia Hedger.
Survivors include; son, Benny (Sandra) Futrell; daughter, Lenita Beasley; grandchildren, Payton (Sarah) Futrell, Ashley Yeager, Kim (Clint) Schoolfield; great grandchildren, Presley Schoolfield, Benny Casen Futrell and Hayeslee Futrell; sisters Opal Verneda Brown, Lena Mangrum; Companion and best friend, Dalton (Dugan) Davis.
Funeral service will be Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 2:00 pm with Rick Hathcoat officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Payton Futrell, Mike Huffman, Donald Huffman, Terry Williams, Kyle Downs and Levi Thornton. Honorary pallbearers will be Dalton (Dugan) Davis, Larry Pittman and also her beloved great grandchildren, Presley Schoolfield, Benny Casen Futrell and Hayeslee Futrell.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until time of service.
We are complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines and limiting indoor funeral and visitation attendance while observing social distancing guidelines. All attendees must provide and wear their own masks before entering.
My heart and prayers go out to you all. Ms. Futrell was such a sweet lady and will be missed by so many.
