August 18, 1957 - September 4, 2020
Friday, September 4th, 2020, Mary Gibbons, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 63.
Mary was born on August 18, 1957 in Clarinda, Iowa to Archie and Florence Mattly. Mary was married to Kenneth Gibbons for 45 years and they raised four children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Adam and a brother, Leroy.
Mary retired after working for 36 years combined in Home Health Care, Physical Therapy, and Nursing. Mary had a determined and stubborn heart of gold. The work she did in the medical industry led her to touching the hearts of many people over the decades. Mary's positive and friendly demeanor will be missed by them as well.
Mary enjoyed having family gatherings during the holidays. In her free time after she retired, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild as much as possible. Mary also enjoyed listening to her husband sing and play the guitar as well as camping and fishing with the family. She was also known to enjoy her Facebook games and gardening outdoors.
Mary loved and was loved by her family to the fullest every day in every way that she was able to express to her family. Whether it was in the way she always tried to stay in touch and asked how each family member was doing or making sure they were eating like they should as well as reminding them to not spend too much time indoors. She always reminded her children and grandchildren to get plenty of exercise and be active outdoors in general.
Mary is survived by her siblings; Dewey, Bob, and Donna. She is also survived by her husband Kenneth and their children Michael, Joe, and Rebecka, her grandchildren; Aiden, Kenny (Reed), Lexi, Calvin (Drew), and Issabelle, her great-grandchild, Ezekiel (Zeke)and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary's family will not have a viewing or memorial service per her final wishes.

I loved Marylou, we did not know she was ill. I worked with her for 14 years at IRV. She was always smiling, and a very sweet, caring person. May you rest in the arms of Jesus. See you again someday.

I met Mary Lou when I went to work at IRV as a CNA; Mary Lou has a personality larger than life and a laugh that shook her whole body and could be heard down the halls. I enjoyed working with her. She loved her residents, her children and her husband. She treated all us younger kids as her children and would have given the shirt off her back to help you. Prayers for her family
