Anita Marie (Howell) Parsons, 81, of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2020, at Lawrence Hall Nursing Center. She was born May 17, 1939, in Egypt, Arkansas, to the late Claude and Anna Jewell Howell. Marie loved art and enjoyed creating beautiful oil and acrylic paintings.

Left to cherish her memory are son, Samuel Parsons, of Portia, Arkansas; daughters, Shelly Tillman, of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, and Karen Greening, and spouse, Ken, of Merriam Woods, Missouri; grandchildren, Sonija Curley, Stephanie Woodard, and spouse, Jody, Tony Tillman, Stacey Ritch, and spouse, Sharon Tohline, and James Ritch, and spouse, Courtney; great grandchildren, Gavin Hill, Athena Curley, Kayla Woodard, Preston Woodard, Julie Woodard, and Olivia Ritch; brother, Charles Howell; and sisters, Fern Colburn, Vonnie Graves, Martha Thetford, and spouse, Ezra, and Denise Fisher, and spouse, Billy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Anna, and sister, Janette Baugh.

A graveside service for Marie will be held 12:00 p.m., September 3, 2020, at Markham Cemetery with Tim Campbell officiating.

Visitation will be held prior at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue, Jonesboro, Arkansas, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Because of Marie's love of art, the family is asking that, in lieu of flowers, please send donations to Walnut Ridge High School Art Department to honor her memory. In this way, her legacy will be carried on to inspire others that have a passion for the field of art. We are complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines and limiting indoor funeral and visitation attendance while observing social distancing guidelines. All attendees must furnish and wear their own masks before entering the building.

I always think of Aunt Marie when I visit my mom. Her beautiful painting still hangs on the wall in the entryway. She was so creative and generous, one of a kind, whose spirit will lives on in our hearts.
