Mary B. Deckelman, 84, of Tyler, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 19, 2020. She was born September 18, 1935 in Dumas, Arkansas to the late Loranza Bishop and Susie Whitley Bishop. She was a faithful member of Heritage Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas. She had worked as a childcare and cafeteria worker.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John Carl Deckelman; her parents; brothers, Tommy Bishop, Woodrow Bishop, L.J. Bishop, John Bishop; sisters, Margaret Bishop, Carna Stuart, and Frances Cobb. Mary is survived by her son, Steve Deckelman and his wife, Julie of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; daughter, Suzanne Oliver and her husband, Jay of Tyler, Texas; grandchildren, Alexis Oliver Reaves (Brent) of Cabot, Arkansas, Meredith Oliver of Tyler, Texas; Lauren Deckelman and Austin Deckelman both of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; four great-grandchildren, Bailee Reaves, Claire Oliver, Amy Freyaldenhoven, and Hunter Reaves, and three great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Dorothy Mauney of Dumas and Kathryn Nichols of Springdale, Arkansas.
A graveside service will be held at Tyro Cemetery. We will be observing the COVID-19 regulations. Mask are required as well as social distancing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy: https://www.parentprojectmd.org/.

I’m so sorry for the loss of a beautiful person inside and out! I have great memories of being at Mrs. Deckelman’s house many times with Suzanne and our friend Barbara! I know there was a lot of laughs! My prayers are with the family! I know you will miss her❤️🙏

I am so glad that I was blessed to have Mary as my friend and neighbor. I will cherish my memories of her for all the shopping trips we had, the wonderful meals we shared, the visits when the neighbors "sat out," for our long walks, and for all the neighborhood projects we worked on.
