A memorial service for Mazie I. Henry will be held 2 pm Saturday, October 23, 2021, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 531 West College, Jonesboro, Arkansas. Committal of ashes will be immediately afterwards at Philadelphia Cemetery, 3200 North Culberhouse, Jonesboro. Mrs. Henry passed away in August of 2020. She was born in Corning to Charley Jackson (CJ) and Eula (Mahan) Freeman.
Mrs. Henry graduated from Lake City High School, received her Associates in Arts from Arkansas Northeastern College, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Education, magna cum laude, from LeMoyne-Owen College. She was a longtime public servant to children and families as an employee of the Mississippi County EOC Head Start program. After her retirement, she continued her service as a member of Policy Council Board. She loved traveling, reading, quilting, playing games and puzzles, and was a glass enthusiast, belonging to the Arkansas Glasshoppers. She shared her community of faith as a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church.
Mrs. Henry was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ed Henry; a son, Edgar Henry; a sister, Mavis Kirksey; and a granddaughter, Nicole Myers. Survivors include a son, Derek (Deb) Henry; daughters, Cindy (Terry) Clark, Rosanna (Maury) Loket, Georgia Nuetzel, and daughter-in-law, Yuko Henry; grandchildren, Dagan Henry, Meredith Clark, Elaine (Doug) Brewer, Bryn (Nacona) Person, Matthew (Jessica) Shumaker, Silas Henry, and Shay Henry; great-grandchildren, Hayden Staton, Grant Staton, Quinn Person, Evan Myers, Isaiah Shumaker, and Gus Shumaker; a brother, Marlin Freeman (Joan); two sisters, Hannah Freeman and Connie Feild; dear friend, Dorothy Cullison; and many, many other loving family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org), the Susan G. Komen breast cancer foundation, (www.komen.org), or St. Mark's Episcopal Church (www.stmarksjonesboro.org)
In compliance with church guidelines, all attendees must provide and wear masks upon entering and while in the building, regardless of vaccine status.

Due to the virus and my weak immune system I cannot attend the visitation for my dear friend, Mazie to say my final goodbye to her. Therefore I send my deepest sympathy to all of her family and friends that will be there to do so. I will miss seeing her smiling face at the alumni reunions where we always saw one another. R.I.P my friend, you will be missed.
