I served in the Marine.

Dr. Roy Allen LeeI am a Veteran.

of Hasty, AR

June 4, 1936 - August 10, 2020

Dr. Roy Allen Lee, well-respected physician and world-class musician, born June 4, 1936, passed away peacefully Monday, August 10, 2020, at Washington Regional Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Roy joined the Marines after high school and after completing his service he graduated from the University of Texas Medical School in Galveston, Texas, in 1966. He enjoyed a long career in medicine that he dearly loved practicing in Texas, Alaska, Missouri, and Arkansas. In his early practice of medicine, he was a licensed Surgeon and General Practitioner in Huntsville, Pasadena, and San Saba, Texas.

While living on the old home place at Hasty, Roy practiced and co-owned Branson MediQuick and Harrison MediQuick, spending his last few years in Harrison, Arkansas, while continuing to live on the original family home place and enjoying music, his cattle and his dog, Max. He took joy in reading his Bible while drinking a cup of coffee each morning from his "Mansion on the Hill", with the beautiful sunsets, cool breezes, and the evening views.

Roy was beloved by his many friends, patients, office staff, and family and genuinely loved everyone in return. He was always a people person and when not in his office he planned cookouts, music and visiting with friends and family. He never tired of playing his fiddle with his family and friends and he played the fiddle every Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Omaha. Roy also loved horses. In 1978 his horse, Skips Dude, won Grand Champion at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Roy worked tirelessly to take care of his patients and friends and answered calls night and day. He would make a house call if needed. When a family member called him, he never failed to handle whatever sickness or problem they had. If anyone of them were sick or had surgery, he would call every day to make sure they were alright.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Vesta (Robinson) Lee; and his beloved brother, Ron. He and Ron had a special brotherly bond that his family was privileged to watch. He was also preceded in death by his precious angel grandson, Remington Wayne Jaynes; and his brother-in-law, Jerry Lee Hope, of Harrison.

Roy is survived by his children, Shelly Lee Jaynes and husband Russell of Pasadena, Texas, Kevin Wayne Lee and wife Kristen of Tomball, Texas, and Jason Allen Lee and wife Blair of Pearland, Texas. He was especially proud of and loved his grandchildren, Carter, Sydnee, Kellany, Carson, and Daisy. He is also survived by his sisters, Jeannine Lee von Gonten and husband Charles of Houston, Texas, and Sharon Lee Hope of Harrison; his beloved sister-in-law, Lyndia Lee, of Hasty; his uncle, W. R. "Jim" Lee and wife Shirley of Harrison; and his aunt, Donna Lee, of Harrison. Roy is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Roy had a conversation with Lyndia very recently wherein he said, "There are no heroes. We are doing what we chose to do to serve mankind and that does not make us heroes."

He was incredibly happy to have moved back to his childhood home place in Hasty, Arkansas for the last few years of his life. He had a special love for his foreman and good friend, Jed Campbell and his wife Kelly and their daughters, Jazlyn, Jaecie, and Reagan.

Visitation was 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, August 13, 2020, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home. Burial was at Sand Hill Cemetery and was private with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.

Pallbearers were Kevin Lee, Carter Campbell, Carson Lee, Jason Lee, Russell Jaynes, Brian Linn, Codey Johnston, and Jed Campbell. Honorary pallbearers were Bryan and Darren Johnston.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sand Hill Cemetery, HC 32 Box 167, Hasty, AR 72640, or Hasty Volunteer Fire Department, c/o Robert Roberson, PO Box 24, Hasty, AR 72640.

Most of us could write a book about the time we spent with Dr. Lee.
The one thing I'll always remember, was an afternoon in the Medquick when the receptionist overheard a mother telling a small girl that her birthday would have to wait because it would take her birthday money to see the dr. When this information was passed on to him the kind hearted Dr. Lee didn't charge them for the visit and the little girl left with a one hundred dollar bill from Dr. Lee's wallet.
The world could have used a few more people like Roy Lee.

Saddened to just now be reading of Roy's passing. We were medical students together at UTMB in Galveston Tx. Musical interests brought us together and we entertained folks every Wednesday night at "Judys Tavern" there in Galveston. I have never met a more naturally talented fiddle player. One of the most difficult tunes for a fiddle player is The Orange Blossom Special; Roy could play it to perfection. We often talked of practicing medicine together but never put it togrther. Roy was a colorful charismatic character and a superb physician. We last spoke by phone sometime before his passing, and we always remininised about our days at Judy's Tavern. God speed on your next journey my friend.
I suspect the good Lord is going to enjoy your music!

I'm so sorry to hear about Dr. Lee. I was his 3rd baby he ever delivered, he nicknamed me Watermelon. I had been his patient even when he moved to San Saba, Tx. Years later I tracked him down to Arkansas for every year I called him to check on him. He never forgot me nor did I him. He was the very best Dr. ever that took very good care of his patients here. I had not heard from him, so today 4/28/2021 I knew something was not right. This being 5 days after my 51st bday. Last time I talked to him, he invited mother and I to come visit. I will miss him and those phone calls. He was the best!! ♥️
My condolences to the family,

To the family of Dr.Lee and extended families, we are so so sorry and will all feel the great loss! We trusted our lives with him professionally and personally because we knew he was more than just our doctor/ same as family he was some who truly cared and loved his patients!

The gap he filled in our grandchildren’s lives at a time when they needed a little extra love, no one else could have done like he did! Never a time when they saw him in or outside the office they never failed to exchange’’love you’’! And they truly did!
When moved back to his original office that he had many years before, I commented on it, he said ‘next move I make I’ll be going home’ and that is exactly what he did!!!

RIP DR LEE and know you were truly loved💜

Love to all family,

I am still devastated. I had known him for 25 years. He was a wonderful teacher. He taught me both the " art and the science of doctoring". I was so lucky to have practiced with him. I loved him so much, and I know he loved me too. He always came by on Christmas and dropped off something and usually would not take anything in return. He called me Jinglefer! I called him Dr. Lee! May God bring peace to his family!

Is their anyone in the Harrison area who doesn't know Dr. Lee He was a friend to everyone he met. Kind, caring, thoughtful, giving, funny (his business card he handed to me when we first met had a list of all the things he had opinions on listed on the back), and of course a wonderful person and great doctor.

We shared a passion for horses, many of whom I trained for him. Two of them earned National Championships in competitive trail riding and other top honors. Even though it was clear that there was no money in the sport (just bragging rights), he didn't care, he wanted to be on the "national scene" again.

He kept on doctoring well past retirement age. I asked him why once, he said, "This is my calling."

Now the Lord has called him home leaving space for another talented, wonderful doctor to someday follow in his footsteps. Doc will live on in all our hearts. I have fond memories.

I'm thankful that you shared part of your life with me and so many others. RIP Doc.

The world has lost a good man and Harrison has lost a wonderful doctor. When I was the sickest I'd ever been in my life, Dr. Lee brought me back to health. When I was scared of going to the doctor, and fearful of a diagnosis, Dr. Lee made me feel calm. He was a true servant leader and a true example of a servant's heart. I have no doubt he arrived at the Pearly Gates, and heard, "Well done, good and faithful servant." May he rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing.

Dr. Lee came to San Saba, Texas, around 1980 and served the community for several years. We were in desperate need of a doctor and he unselfishly treated lots of folks that couldn't pay. At the time I had just begun to learn to play the fiddle so I hung around him all I could since he was a player. He brought me a fiddle from Pasadena, Texas, that I still play today.

There are so many nice moments that we shared with our dear Papa Doc. We are immigrants and don't have family around, but Papa Doc surely didn't let us feel that way. He was like a father us and grandfather to our kids. We had the privilege to get into his clinic through the back door, our pictures were hanged in his office with pictures of his family members.

We are grateful to know him and to have the opportunity to share moments of our lives with him. We are going to miss him.

I first met Dr. Lee as one of my mother’s supervising physicians that she worked for at Mediquik. It wasn’t long until he was treating my children at Mediquik. Quickly I learned he had a love for horses as I did and I couldn’t wait to sit and talk with him to learn all i could from him about horses as my knowledge was limited. It wasn’t long after I had found a nice filly in a field I stopped to admire for a couple weeks in a row only to find out she belonged to Doc. He “traded” one of my horses for her...lol Because he didn’t Want me to get overwhelmed and have to many to take care of. I was never so grateful for something I had been given in my life by someone. I don’t know if he ever knew how much I thought of him or loved him for the care and thoughtfulness he gave to me and my family especially my mama, but he will forever hold a special place in my heart for it.
