Gwendolyn Mae (Garrett) Sanderson, 88, of Clarksville, Arkansas passed away on Monday, August 3, 2020 in Russellville. She was born on January 9, 1932 in Hammond, Indiana to her parents, Hobert Garrett and Melissa (Eichorst) Garrett. Gwen enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, and took pride in being a farmer's wife and a mother of seven. She loved making big meals for her family and friends. Gwen retired after 25 years of working as a production worker for Tysons in Clarksville. Gwen was deeply loved and admired by many.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Hobert and Melissa Garrett, brother Thomas Garrett, son Terry Childress, and one grandson Larry Hicks.

She is survived by her six children Viola Cook of Lowell, IN, Gwen Childress of Mulberry, AR, Archie Childress of Lamar, Betty and husband Jerry Thompson of Knoxville, Bonnie and husband Larry Freeman of Clarksville, and Larry Childress of Clarksville; twelve grandchildren, Steve, Stacey, Lonnie, Sam, Archie III, Jeffrey, Aimee, Brett, Jennifer, Melanie, and Megan; numerous great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

Open visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Roller-Cox Funeral Home in Clarksville, under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home in Clarksville, Arkansas. We are complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines and limiting indoor funeral and visitation attendance to 100 people at one time. All attendees must provide and wear their own masks before entering.

A private family funeral service will be scheduled with burial at Demotte Cemetery in Demotte, Indiana, under the direction of Sheets Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Lowell, IN. Ms. Gwen's pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
