I'm so sorry to hear about Ross passing. He was a good friend to me growing up in the same neighborhood. Being 5 years older than me he was like a big brother that I never had. My neighborhood friends would spend hours almost daily playing basketball at the Spurlocks house with Ross, Steve and Mike. The Spurlock family was integral to my childhood and was always grateful to how well the adult Spurlock brothers treated youngsters like us.

Praying that peace and comfort to everyone close to Ross, especially his family. I'm so sad to have heard this news.

Ross was a great friend and an outstanding wildlife officer. Never saw him not smiling. Going to miss the laugh. Wishing the one true GOD keeps his arms around the family and reminds you constantly that you will see him again.

To Ryan and the entire Spurlock family: I am so sorry for your deep loss, as a steadfast and sturdy tree has truly fallen. I worked with Ross periodically for more than 15 years. He was a standup guy, and he and I shared more laughs and jokes together that I will remember and rely upon for the rest of my days. He loves you all, and he knew you loved him, too. Peace and comfort to you, and thank you for sharing him with everyone. Ross will be missed, and he will always remain my friend.

Dear Ross’ Close Family and Friends, Please accept my deepest sympathies for Ross’ passing. He always did his job, above and beyond the call of duty. And, for that, I thank you.Ross and my late husband, Bo Dougan of Bredlow’s Corner and Galloway, Arkansas, were good friends, hunters, and, fishermen. Ryan,
We are heartbroken about the loss of your Dad. He was a great man and was ever so proud of you and your accomplishments. We are praying for you in the days to come and that you draw comfort in knowing your father is in a beautiful place. We always enjoyed our “golf chats” with your Dad when he would come across the fairway to check on Hannah’s score and give us a proud update on yours.
Thinking of you..much love,
Bakalekos Family

I knew Ross through AGFC. I worked in the LR Headquarters and remember him for his friendliness and kindness. He was happy and upbeat most of the time. And always willing to do whatever he could to help out with any problem. One of the truly good guys. Thoughts and prayers for the family.

Ryan, I'm so sorry for your loss, especially as a young man starting adult life. I also hate I never met your father. We lived in the same community for all these years as cousins...
My prayers are being said for you, your uncles and cousins. God's blessing

Ross touched many people in all walks of life. He had an uncanny ability to read the good and bad in many. Ross was forgiving...and stern when the situation demanded.

He loved Arkansas and loved being a Wildlife Officer. He was a natural, if there ever was one.

The state of Arkansas lost a good man this week. We all will miss him. Our deepest regret and sympathy to his family.

We are so sad to lose our dear neighbor, Ross.
We enjoyed our talks, which always seemed to happen when
we were cutting the grass. Meg is an artist and used to live
in hunting country in northern Michigan so Ross was only too
happy to give advice on the wildlife of Arkansas.
We enjoyed returning golf balls that landed in our yard
and watching Ryan become a champion golfer.
Ross was so proud and happy to give us any news of his
son’s career.
We will miss the chats, we will miss his smile, we will
will never forget Ross.

Sincere condolences to the whole Spurlock family. Ross was a good man, a good friend and a great game warden. I’ve heard it said that If a man loves his work that he really never works a day in his life...Ross loved his work. Never had a problem that he didn’t do his best to help with any time I needed him..still got his number in my phone and probably always will...Ross, you will be greatly missed by many. If the Good Lord has need of a game warden in the life after this one.... he’s got the best.

Ryan and family, so sorry for your loss. I had the honor to work with and around Ross on occasions for so many years. Ross was a great leader, a great W/O and a great human being. When we, us outside the LR area needed something Ross was our #1 contact. Ross accomplished a lot in his life and career but his greatest accomplishment was his Son ( Ryan ). Young man your dad was so proud of you. He loved talking about Ryan Spurlock. Ross, your job here is done and done very well my friend. There will be officers behind you but none will ever fill your shoes. Go rest high upon that mountain my friend.
