Donald Ray Friddle

of Magazine, AR

July 5, 1943 - June 13, 2020

Donald Ray Friddle, 76, of Magazine, died Saturday, June 13, 2020 at his home in Reveille Valley.

He was born July 5, 1943 at home in Driggs. Donald was retired from the U.S. Forest Service in Paris, where he got his first job out of high school. He was a volunteer with the Driggs Fire Department for over 20 years. He loved riding around the farm on his Bob Cat and checking the cows and making sure all the fences were in good shape. He was sure to call Edward Pickartz if any of his cows or calves didn't look right and to give him advise on everything farm related, whether he needed it or not.

He loved his ''girls'' and all the ''Grands'' and was always happy to see them.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Vondol Ray and Evelyn Biggs Friddle of Driggs and one sister, Vondah Kaye Friddle Moffet.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Joyce of the home, two daughters, Deborah Gail and husband Matt Koch of Paris and Katrina Dawn and her husband Matthew Powell of Charleston, four grand-daughters, Samantha of Bonanza, Whitney of Fort Smith, Carrie of Wakefield, KS, Callie of Fayetteville; four great-grandchildren, Austin, Annabelle, Evelyn and Daphne, one sister, Darlene Becker of Paris and several nieces and nephews.

Viewing hours will be 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Monday, June 15, 2020, at Roller Funeral Home in Paris.

Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at the Rana Cemetery in Reveille Valley, near Magazine with Bro. James Isaacs officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris.

Pallbearers will be Edward Pickartz, Jason Davis, James Plemmons, Robby Nicholas, Keith Downs and Gary Becker. Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in his honor for the upkeep of the Rana Cemetery.

Trina, Joyce, Debbie and family, I'm so sorry for your loss! Y'all are in our thoughts and prayers! Mr. Donald Friddle always seemed to me to be such a gentle giant, to a little girl of 6! But as I grew up he was the kind quite dad of my dearest friend, Trina, that simply shook his head at our silly antics! He will be greatly missed! We love y'all Friddle Family!

Joyce, I am very sorry for your loss. I graduated from high school with Donald in 1962 & remember him as a very mature, strong, kinda gravel voiced, "tough talking" guy, but with a heart of gold. Yep, he was a nice, friendly guy around his classmates. At 18 years old, he always seemed to me like 18 going on 30 & I always felt so immature & young next to him.
I was just a skinny 17 year old kid at that time & remember his compliment when he seemed surprised that I was such a "strong little fella". --- chuckle -- I have not seen him since we graduated, not even at the Magazine homecomings.  May he Rest in Peace.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Donald’s death. I’ve known him and his family since I was about 3. We used to play together with toy trucks and tractors. And we would pretend to be in the jungle and swing from vines in the creek. Later when we were teenagers, a group of us would ride horses, eat watermelons and homemade ice cream. Those were good memories for my sister, Sonja and I. His longtime wife, Joyce, made his life complete along with his children. I’ll really miss him and my condolences to his loved ones.
