Lonzo Beard, 94, a resident of Kibler, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at the Baptist Health Hospital in Fort Smith.
He was born January 24, 1926, in Etowah, Arkansas to the late Allen and Gertrude (Lampkins) Beard. Lonzo was also raised by his stepfather, Clem Clark. He served in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. After his military service he spent his working years in farming, gas stations and the oil and gas industry. He was a member of the Kibler Baptist Church and served on the Kibler City Council for over 20 years. In his spare time Lonzo enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, biking and square dancing.
In addition to his parents Lonzo was preceded in death by his first wife, Agnes Lunelle Beard; five brothers and a sister.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Beard of Spiro, Oklahoma; three sons, Lonnie Beard and partner, Stacy Leeds of Fayetteville, Tom Beard and wife, Pat of Lavaca and Jerry Beard and wife, Amy of Farmington; two daughters, Teresa Wood and husband, Jim of Kibler and Robbie McDonald and husband, Allen of Greenwood; two stepsons, Dwayne Jeremiah and wife, Heather of Holt, Missouri and Brian Wilson and wife, Sarah of Spiro, Oklahoma; two stepdaughters, Angela Bunch and husband, Charlie of Spiro, Oklahoma and Tamarah Wilson of Spiro, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, Ian Beard and wife, Courtney, Eileen Beard, Robert Beard and wife, Megan, Sam Beard and wife, Gayle, Audra Bocksnick and husband, Shane; Britney Stormer and husband, Zach, Tyler Wood, Ashley Sherrod and husband, Jordan and Eric McDonald and wife, Caroline; nine step grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one step great grandchild on the way and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 29, 2020, at the Kibler Baptist Church, 141 East Kibler Road, Van Buren, Arkansas.
The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Lee Denton officiating. Burial will follow in Gill Cemetery near Van Buren under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris.
Pallbearers will be Ian Beard, Robert Beard, Zach Stormer, Shane Bocksnick, Eric McDonald, Jim Wood, Tyler Wood, Jordan Sherrod and Charlie Bunch.
So very sorry for your loss. I have many fond memories growing up when our families were so close. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time.

Sorry for your loss, it has been many many years since I have seen Lonzo. I do remember when they lived on Erman Lane in Osceola and he had the Exxon Station on the corner.i also remember that huge German Shepard dog y’all had. My God be by your side during these trying times.
