Sandy Deckard, 72, of Bethesda passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2019.
She was born on November 24, 1947 in Batesville, Arkansas to Eugene Claude Matthews and Sarah Ann (Lusk) Matthews.
Sandy was a member of Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church in Bethesda. She enjoyed genealogy, working in the store, yoga, stained glass, yard work and serving the community of Bethesda.
Survivors include her husband, Kelly Deckard; two sons, Jerry Paul (Teresa) Grissom of Batesville and Zachary Deckard of Bethesda; daughter, Misty Lynn (Joseph) White of Batesville; two sisters, Carolyn McClure, Tammy Dearmore; three grandchildren, Katey (Hunter), Kenna Grace and Jennifer (Cody); and three great-grandchildren, Slade Matthew, Maybree Ann and Newton Alexander.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Jerry R. Grissom; and one brother, Danny Matthews.
A celebration of life ceremony will take place at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Campground Cemetery with Larry Sellers and Jim Gilliam officiating.
In memory of Sandy Deckard donations may be made in her honor to any Alzheimer charity of your choice.

Sandy was one of the first people I met when we moved to Bethesda in 95'. She was the heart of Bethesda. All who met her loved her, including Sandy and me. Our hearts go out to Kelly and the family at this time. There's another angel in Heaven watching over you all, and she will be with you in spirit until you meet again. This is our Blessed Assurance.

Kelly, Jerry Paul, Misty, Zachary and the extended family, Sandy was a special lady to me. I enjoyed working with her and Kelly at the store for many years. They taught me a lot. I have lots of memories that I will cherish and hold on to. She always had a sweet smile. I pray for comfort and strength during this time and the days to come. I will miss her dearly.
