Dr. Charles Edward Simpson 71, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away on September 25 after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Little Rock on February 11, 1948, to the late Charles and Marie Simpson. He was preceded also in death by his first wife (Helen) and their three daughters (Kelli, Kristy and Amanda).

Ed was selfless and lived to please God. He was a great example of a man who followed God, and there is no doubt his legacy followed him into Heaven. He is loved and admired by so many for his unwavering faith and his servant's heart, in spite of the many difficulties he faced in life. More than anything, he desired to bring others to know Jesus as he did. He served as pastor of several churches, the latest of which was Calvary Baptist in Little Rock. He worked tirelessly on numerous boards and committees for the Arkansas Baptist State Convention and the Pulaski Baptist Association.
In addition to serving as a Southern Baptist minister, he was passionate about serving his country. He was a proud veteran of the Gulf War and was the first Arkansas Army Reserve Chaplain to be selected to and graduate from the U.S. Army War College. He was the first military chaplain to become a Board-Certified Hospital Chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains. He served in Desert Storm, Operation Provide Comfort, and Operation Noble Eagle.
Burial will be on Monday, September 30th, at 9 a.m. in the Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery in North Little Rock. The memorial service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Park Hill Baptist Church in North Little Rock. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the service.
Memorials can be made to Calvary Baptist Church (5700 Cantrell, Little Rock, AR 72207) for the Building Fund.
We loved Bro. Ed he was so wonderful to our family. Our kids Tori and Jay enjoyed his services even as small children. We worshiped with him at Calvary Baptist when we lived in Little Rock. Such a good soul. God's Speed you are missed. Cyndy & Tim
Brother Ed was a wonderful man. I spent 8 weeks in the hospital and every week he would come visit. He was an amazing person and will be greatly missed.
We first met Ed in the army reserve unit. Ed was an outstanding officer and dedicated chaplain. He was an essential part of our army unit and influenced many soldiers.
Brother Ed was a blessing to my family; he was such a wonderful teacher and example of Christ's love.
We will miss him very much.
Much love and prayers to Ms Pam and the whole family.
Chaplain Ed was a fantastic chaplain and all around minister of the gospel. He was my Command Chaplain at the 90th Regional Readiness Command. I am sure I speak for our team including Chaplains Higgins, Brown and myself as well as Sergeant Major Peavey when we offer the most sincerest of condolences to his wife and extended family.
Well done Sir, from your old team mates. I am absolutely convinced he has entered into eternal service to our Lord and waits for us all to join him in service to the Master.
What a great man! He will be missed.
A light has gone out on earth when Brother Ed stepped into the light of heaven. Words fail in expressing the impact Brother Ed had on my faith"living each of life's moments-joys and sorrows with unwavering hope in the name above all names. I will thank God in all my remembrances of him and continue to pray for His good good hand to be upon Pam and family.
Eddie was a part of several major events in my life. I will always remember his compassion and goodness.

A beloved pastor and friend to do many! Grateful for Ed and Pam and their journey!
Our prayers are with Pam and the family in the days to come. Ed was a fine man who always had hope through everything he had to deal with. Thankful that he got a second chance at marriage and that he finished the race well. And very thankful we had the opportunity to know him!

Ed and Pam will always be cherished friends and our pastor. His memory will always be with us. Prayers are lifted for Pam and the family during this difficult time.
I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of CH Simpson. I have known this family since Primary music classes at Lonoke. Amanda and I were classmates until they moved.
CH Simpson was one of the most sincere and compassionate Officers. I remember being assigned to the 95th Training Div on Camp Pike. While walking around the building one day, I saw his name on the outside of one of the offices. I WAS SO HAPPY! Everyday, I walked to his office praying that he would be there. One day he was! One to know someone from Lonoke, but two to KNOW someone from Lonoke that also served!
My heart hurts for CH Simpson! He knew many heartaches in this journey called life! YET, He never, NEVER stopped showing KINDNESS and LOVE! NEVER!
Praying for the family! Page, if the Lonoke Class of 95 can do anything, please don't hesitate to reach out to us! We are here for and with you!
I will be forever grateful that this man was such a huge part of my life. I love you Pam and I am sorry that you have to do this. I just keep getting this mental picture of him young and healthy and he has his 3 girls hanging of of him. Their arms are around his neck and he's squeezing them so tightly and the grin on his face is bigger than it's ever been. I hope you are able to feel the love over the next several days and I hope it's something you will hold on to and draw off of when the days are silent. Love you forever
Bro Ed was a lifegiver! He gave my Dad Glenn Hickey one of his last opportunities to preach at Calvary Baptist, which he treasured.
Maria and I will hold you family in Gods embrace in the days and months ahead!

Brother Ed will be missed by all. I enjoyed his sermons, working weekend made it hard but I would leave after Ed was done. He was there at my Dads funeral. Of all the pastors I have the privilege of hearing he was one of the best. Pam I will be praying for you and yours.
I felt saddened when I heard of Pastor Ed's passing. However, I also felt joy knowing he had finished the race. Thank you for all your spiritual support at my time at Calvary Baptist Church. It was through a picture of you on the churches website that I came to CBC. With a great leader, I came to know great staff and great members. You will be missed and will keep those memories in my heart. Love you Pam!
Sorry for your loss. Praying for the family.
We are so sorry to hear of the passing of our dear Brother Ed Simpson. He was a living example of the Christ life. He will be missed by so many.
Rest in Peace Ed.
Pam, we love you and Ed so much!! I know he is enjoying being in the presence of Jesus! May God bless and comfort you like only He can as you mourn and adjust to life without your precious husband. You two will always hold a very special place in our hearts. ❤️Mark and Nelodie

Brother Ed was a special treasure that we were all blessed to know. His memory will live on in our hearts forever. He was a true follower of Christ who brought so many people to know him. I can only imagine what the reunion in heaven was like. His selfless acts of kindness will always be remembered. He stood by my side while my mom was so ill. His prayers were heard. We witnessed a miracle together. Even at her funeral service he brought someone to know Jesus. He counseled us, married us, and dedicated both of our children. He was just a precious man that we love so much. Pam, there is a void that will be impossible to fill but we are praying for peace to fill your heart. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
God be with you Pam, and the family. He was loved by so many. Praise God you will see him again. He's home with the Lord. Love and God Bless. Joy White Spearman
Thoughts and prayers to all of you. We love Ed and my love goes out to Pam, Callie and the rest of the family!

Bro Ed was an amazing man. He will be missed!
Bro.Ed helped me through the most difficult time of my life with love, grace, and wise counsel. I will never forget him or his wonderful spirit....such a special gift from God!
We will always hold Bro. Ed in our hearts. He was the first pastor we met when we moved to Little Rock, 22 years ago. Bro. Ed and Pam welcomed us into their church with the love and kindness of the gentle Spirit of the Lord, and have been our dear friends since. Bro. Ed performed our wedding renewal vows, the baptism of Don, and graciously performed the funerals for Don's mother and father, which he hardly knew. He was the most giving man we have ever known. Now he is rejoicing with Jesus, of whom he served all his life. We will miss him greatly.
Prayers for Pam and family. Brother Ed has done so much for our family, he was a tremendous pastor and a tremendous person. He is already missed.
