Florence Kidd Routh

of Little Rock, AR

February 9, 1935 - September 25, 2019

Florence "Grannie" (Kidd) Routh (84), while surrounded by her family, slipped peacefully into the arms of our Savior on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at approximately 12:30 pm, while being cared for by the wonderful staff at UAMS and a very special physician sent by God, Dr. Brad Baltz at SVI.

While Grannie is rejoicing, walking, singing and breathing without issue in Heaven, her loved ones remain here with broken hearts missing her smile and her loving hugs. We know full well Grannie has been cured of all earthly disease, pain and suffering. We are committed to living our lives in the name of Christ so someday we will reunite with her and our other family members in Heavenly Glory.

Florence was born on February 9, 1935 to Howard and Ruby Ezell Kidd in McClelland, AR. Florence was the oldest sister to Gene (Betty) Kidd, Wayne (Linda) Kidd, Fred (JoAnn) Kidd, Carol (the late Gary) Johnson and a several month old brother and sister of only days.

Florence graduated with honors at Augusta High School. Florence married DJ "Sonny" Routh of Augusta, AR in 1955 and moved to Little Rock. Ronald "Ronnie" Routh was her first son to be followed by Curtis "Dean" Routh 3 years later. Florence always refereed to Dean as: "My baby boy."

Florence was a member of the First Baptist Church of Little Rock for over 60 years and started visiting the Second Baptist Church in downtown Little Rock a few years ago. When it became difficult for Florence to drive, she would spend Sunday mornings participating in several church services on television from her home or hospital room.

Florence proudly worked 38 years for the Arkansas Highway & Transportation Department, making some of her best friends in life while working there. Florence was a member of several professional associates. The American Business Women's Association was one of Florence's favorite organizations where she served in many roles ultimately she was elected President.

When Dean married Motchen, Sonny and Florence finally had the "daughter" they had always wanted. Christopher Routh was born to Dean and Motchen and then the whole world changed for Sonny and Florence. Christopher was their only grandchild to spoil, without hesitation or shame and they did it often. This is when 'momma' changed to "Grannie" for all of us. Sonny "Paw" retired from the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office and with Florence and Ronnie, were founders of Routh Wrecker Service, Inc., Dean committed his life to making the family business success and earned the position of Vice President. Dean continues to guide Christopher, who leads the company today, just as it was planned so many years ago. Sonny went ahead of us to Heaven 1992.

We have planned a Celebration of Life Ceremony at Roller - Chenal on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 11:00 am. Chaplains JoAnn Keith and James Reynolds will lead the service. A "Look Back at the Life of Grannie" will be by Ronnie Routh.

The family will hold a burial service at Augusta Memorial Cemetery in Augusta, AR at 3:00 pm, today, which will be officiated by Bro. Lynn Hannah. Florence will be layed to rest next to her late husband Sonny.

Dear Routh family,

I just heard of Flo's passing! I am so sorry! I have many fond memories of the years we worked together at AHTD - planning. She was a very special lady who consistently brightened the day of those around her. As a Christian, I can say with assurance that this is not a "goodbye" but is, instead, a "see you later!" May you all feel a sense of perfect comfort and peace in the days and weeks ahead. With Christian love, Richard & Gabriell Mills

I worked with Florence at AHTD for many years. She had the highest integrity and highest work ethic, and at the same time was cheerful, fun-loving and a great friend to all she met.

We are so sorry the news about Aunt Florence. She was always a sweet and gracious lady to everyone. I was fortunate to spend a little time with her a few weeks ago and I enjoyed talking with her. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. She treasured her family above all else. Love you all.
