William ''Merritt'' Hale Sr., 78, of West Memphis, AR, passed away Friday, September 13, 2019. Merritt was born on November 3, 1940 in Memphis, TN to Holt and Mary Hale.

Merritt was a graduate of Crawfordsville High School in 1958 and University of Central Arkansas in 1963. He was a member First United Methodist Church in West Memphis as well as a member of the West Memphis Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce. He worked as an Independent Insurance Agent at JH Hale Insurance Agency for 45 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Linda Hale; his son Bill Hale (Heather); his two daughters, Michelle Hale Owens and Vicki Hale; his five grandchildren, Joshua Owens (Katherine), Justin Owens, Matthew Owens, Andrew Owens, and Jacob Morrow; his great grandchild Haven Morrow; and his sister Virginia Caldwell (Jackie).

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church, 215 N Missouri St, West Memphis, AR, 11:00 am to 12 noon, with services immediately following. Interment will be at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, AR. In lieu of flowers, the family requests for memorial donations to be made to the Baptist Reynold's Hospice House, 1520 W Poplar Avenue, Collierville, TN 38017 and/or First United Methodist Church, 215 N Missouri Street, West Memphis, AR, 72301.

Deepest Heartfelt Condolences at the passing of your husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Hale was highly respected and well-thought of in the community.
