Opal Daly passed from this life on Wednesday, June 5, 2019. She was 94 years old. Ms. Daly was born Opal F. Smith on January 22, 1925, to the late George and Annie Smith of Fair Oaks, Arkansas. She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Alvin) Watts of Wynne and Kathy (Michael) Dulaney of West Helena, as well as nine grandchildren; Jerry (Lorie) Watts, Wendy (David) Sides, Brad (Crystal) Watts and D.J. Watts, all of Wynne; Melissa Cartwright of West Helena; Jeffery (Star) Gann of Marion; Brandon Gann of Grady; Hannah (Elliott) Carson of Aurora, Colorado; and John (Lisa) Dulaney of West Helena. Also surviving her are her daughter-in-law, Donna Gann, son-in-law, Charles Julian, 26 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Ms. Daly is preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Julian; son, Ervin Larry Gann; sisters, Eva Mae Johnson of Fair Oaks, Helen Summerhill of West Helena, Fay Greene and Mildred Cobb of Wynne, Ellen East of Ripley, Tennessee, and Ruby Hughes of Dyersberg, Tennessee; and her brothers, Cecil Smith, John Smith, and Elvis Smith all of Fair Oaks. She is also preceded in death by her husbands Ervin L. Gann, Carl F. Smith, and F.L. Sonny Daly, and a grandson, Eric Couch.
Ms. Daly and her first husband moved to West Helena around 1946 and built Gann's Grocery where what is now known as The Corner Market. She loved to laugh, working in her yard, and greatly enjoyed time spent with family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Brad Watts, Jerry Watts, D.J. Watts, Lukus Cartwright, John Dulaney and David Sides.
The funeral service for Opal Daly will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 7, 2019 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Helena, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Helena, Arkansas. Officiating the service is Brother Ricky Williams.
