Arendel Derrett ''Jim'' Hamm, age 96 of Marshall, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, March 30th, 2019 at Highland Court Resident Care Facility in Marshall, Arkansas. He was born in Snowball, Arkansas on February 20th, 1923 to the late Wayne Hamm and Gertrude Castleberry Hamm.
Arendel was a veteran of the United States Navy and served as a cook during World War II. He was stationed in the Marshall Islands. After the war Arendel worked as a watch maker and jeweler. He loved horses and traded saddles and tack in his later years.
Arendel was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce Sherrill Hamm; brother, Flavell Hamm; and sister, Willadean Burger.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Gay Lane of Marshall; two grandchildren, Johnett Cash and Kelly Campbell; two great-grandchildren, Mygan Pruitt and Dustin Horton; five great-great grandchildren, Jaylin, Cherrie, Campbell, Parker and Tinslee.
Private graveside services will be held in Witts Springs Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers at the family's request donations may be made to the Searcy County Veteran Memorial Hall, 108 Noah Horton Memorial Drive, Marshall, AR 72650.
I'm so glad I got to meet Arendel and bring my mom to see her long lost cousin one more time. I wish him "happy trails" on his journey home to heaven to be with his loved ones there. God bless the family with peace and comfort here. Love to all!
