Steven M Shaffer

of Osceola, AR

December 17, 1957 - February 23, 2019

Steven Shaffer, 61, of Osceola, passed away February 23, 2019. He was born December 17, 1957 in Greenville, SC to Richard and Helen Shaffer. Steven was a member of First Baptist Church. He graduated from Osceola High School in 1976. He was president of the drama club, member of the key club, and Who's who among American high school students. He graduated from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, with a BSE in art education in 1985. During his tenure at UCA, he was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma, a member of the student senate, dorm president, stage designer for Miss USA/UCA, and a coordinator for children craft workshops. He worked as an art educator for both South Mississippi County School District and Osceola School District. As a teacher, it was his dream to impart knowledge, and for each and every student to tap into their unlimited wealth of creativity. He felt that every student had a gift, be it of song, dance, music or the visual arts.
Life with Steven brought a smile to our faces. His contagious laugh and sense of humor made you feel happy and that you were important to him. We experienced joy and laughter and tender moments that brought us closer as a family. He shared his love unconditionally. We will remember him with love in our hearts til we meet again.
Survivors include his wife Sharron Shaffer of Osceola; daughter: Courtney (Casey) Cox of Osceola; grandchildren: Cameron Cox, Anabelle Riney, Ashton Cox and Weston Cox; mother: Helen Shaffer of Mountain Home; sister: Katherine (Tom) Meadows of Mountain Home; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.

Sharron,

I am so sorry that Steven is no longer with you. It is a great loss.
But what a gift you had to share your life with this wonderful, kind, giving, funny man. He made the world a better place and all those who knew him felt joy and happiness every time they were around him. When I think of all the wonderful memories I have of him, I always smile. Rest in peace, sweet Steven.

Sharon and family, I am so sorry to hear of Steve’s passing. He had such a wonderful personality and a sincerity that you felt when you were with him. I’ll never forget Steve calling the AETN studio one night a few years ago when he happened to see me on. It was great to hear from him, and It just spoke volumes about who he was. What a true friend! My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
