Evelyn (Casey) Hayslip, 89, of Batesville passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2018.
She was born on October 2, 1929 in Pleasant Plains to Cheatum Samuel Casey and Lilly (Headley) Casey.
Evelyn was a member of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery, flower gardening and cooking. She was known for her delicious chocolate rolls, yeast rolls, cinnamon rolls and chocolate fried pies.
She is survived by her four daughters, Margie Graham (Otto) of Cord-Charlotte, Linda Abernathy (Paul) of Pleasant Plains, Sharen Townsley (Eugene) of Batesville, and Roletta Amos (Floyd Tillery) of Batesville; brother, Stanley Casey (Carol) of Quapaw, Oklahoma; sister, Olena Hertz of Pleasant Plains; five grandchildren, Rodney Sutterfield, Randy Sutterfield, Steven Lindsey, Bly Townsley, and Erica Miller; eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Hayslip; brothers, Alvin Casey, Clifford Casey, Ira Casey, Kenneth Casey, Merlin Casey, and Quenton Roy Casey; and sisters, Velta Casey, Vivian Casey, and Geneva Casey.
Pallbearers are Danny Bell, Richard Reynolds, Gene Reynolds, Rick Shaw, Eugene Townsley, and Floyd Tillery. Honorary pallbearers will be Otto Graham, Paul Abernathy, and Dr. M. Jordan Weaver.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Ross Sturch officiating. Burial will follow the service at Roosevelt Cemetery on Highway 157 in the Roosevelt Community near Pleasant Plains under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.
Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.

Looking at my dads WWII diary, he mentioned knowing an Evelyn Casey from Little Rock around 1942.

I was so sorry to hear about your mom. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you.

Our dear sister, Stanley still talks about his sister looking after him, her pickled beets, fried pies and all the fun times we had together. We love our Arkansas family. Our prayers are with you. She is standing strong with our Lord today.
