Leonard Allen Turnage, 84, of East End passed away on September 9, 2018 after a brief battle with liver cancer. He was born in Liddieville, Louisiana on January 23, 1934 to Ernest and Molly Turnage. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan and later at Little Rock Air Force Base. Leonard retired from Safeway /Harvest Foods stores after 25 years as a truck driver. He drove over a million miles and to those who were on the road with him his CB handle was ''Louisiana Plow Boy''. Leonard was a member of the teamster local 878.
During his stay at LRAFB in 1956, he met a young lady, Eva Lee Geary. They married in Greenville, Mississippi on September 10th to begin their time together, one day shy of 62 years. They spent time in Houston, Texas before returning to Little Rock. They started a family and he began work at the Safeway Bakery. In 1968 they moved to East End Community in Saline County. Leonard took truck driver training in Atlanta, Georgia and began his career as a truck driver. He enjoyed gardening, deer hunting and traveling in their RV to Bluegrass Parks in Arkansas. Leonard loved bluegrass and gospel music.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents; step-mother; Lena Turnage, sister; Sarah Turnage Riser, brother; W.D. Turnage and his wife Helen, daughter-in-law; Jamie Turnage, two brothers-in-law; Charles Geary and Lewis Geary. He is survived by his wife; Eva Lee Turnage, son; Allen Lee Turnage (fiance; Cara Crews), daughter; Suzanne Harris, five Grandchildren; Samantha Johnson, Shannon Johnson, Courtney Turnage, Allen Turnage, Jr., Jordan Turnage, three great grandchildren; Kelsie, Riley, Jeremiah, brother-in-law; Warren Geary (Susan), sister-in- law; Annie Geary, nephews; Mike, Tim, and Kevin Turnage, Bobby Geary, David Geary nieces; Brenda Turnage, Patricia Wilson, Beverley Lean, Susan Chavez, Stephanie Jackson, Peggy Zajac and numerous relatives, friends and family who will miss him.
