Morris L. "Mack" Payne of Damascus was born October 18, 1920 to the late James H. and Melvina (Lee) Payne. He passed away at home at the age of 96 on July 31, 2017. After serving in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946, he was married on October 5, 1946 to the late Oneta (Henson) Payne. They were married for 70 years. Early in their marriage, they moved to California and spent several years before returning to Damascus to become dairy farmers. He was a member of Rabbit Ridge Church of Christ for many years. He enjoyed family time, gardening and working on the farm.
He is survived by his son, John (Rita) of Damascus and daughter, Susan Geary (Warren) of Conway. His legacy lives on through the lives of five grandchildren, Jeff Payne, Wendi Payne, and Lori Payne Davis (Shane) of Damascus, Stephanie Geary Jackson (Mark) and David Geary (Sarah) of Conway. He was the proud great-grandfather of Drew Payne (Brianna), Josh Payne, Leighton Davis, Marlee Jackson, Hudson and Preslee Geary. The 5th generation, Wyatt Payne made him a great-great PawPaw.
He was preceded in death by 5 sisters and 2 brothers. He is survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to caregiver and friend, Geraldine Valentine. Also, our gratitude to Arkansas Hospice.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Payne, David Geary, Drew Payne, Josh Payne, Shane Davis and Mark Jackson. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmie Megee, Charles Wood, Hudson Geary and Wyatt Payne.
Visitation will be at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Greenbrier at 12:00 PM on Thursday, August 3, 2017 followed by funeral service at 1:00 PM with Mr. Randy Frazier officiating. Interment will follow in the Spires Cemetery in Damascus.
Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 1105 Deer Street, Suite 10, Conway, AR 72032.
I'm sorry for the families loss. Uncle Mack was a great man. I loved seeing him at family reunions!
Mac was a great man a hard worker and very comical I know he will be missed . My Prayers for you all .

I am so saddened at the passing of Uncle Mac who was the last of the siblings of Grandma Mildred. I will never forget that he paid me $15.00 for driving the hay truck for the hay hauling crew one summer. I was about 10 at the time. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
