Bernice Yancey, 75, of Covington, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Memphis, Tennessee. Mrs. Yancey was born July 21, 1938 at Marvell, Arkansas to the late Robert E. Lee Duren and the late Sally Hammon Duren. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Covington, Tennessee.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Eugene Yancey; a son, Michael Eugene Yancey (Harriett) of Covington; two grandchildren, Andrea Lynn Sutton (Ron) and Michael Neal Yancey (Nichole); a great-grandchild, Leah Michele; four sisters, Georgie Thompson of Maryville, Tennessee, Shirley Woods of Paris, Arkansas, Barbara Dillard of Charleston, Arkansas and Robin Lynn Howard of Lavaca, Arkansas; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, Ben Duren.
A graveside service for Bernice Yancey will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 6, 2013 at Sunset Memorial Park at West Helena. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. Reverend Dean Yancey, Reverend Don Yancey and Reverend Charles Williams will officiate.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Covington, Tennessee.
Services will be directed by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, West Helena, (870) 572-2571.
Gene, learned just today about the passing of Bernice. We have a long time of good memories of being blessed by having you two as friends.
