Doyne R. Brogdon, 89, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at St. Bernard's Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
He was born March 12, 1921 to the late Albert R. and Abbie Cason-Brogdon at Walnut Grove, Arkansas. Mr. Brogdon was a WWII veteran where he proudly served in combat for the U.S. Army in the South Pacific for 3 ½ years. He served in the Solomon Island Campaign and received the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon; two Bronze Service Stars, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. He retired as a truck driver for Mid-South Plumbing.
Doyne is survived by his wife, Ruth, Crow-Brogdon of 65 years, one son, Jerry Brogdon and his wife, Linda, of Jonesboro; two granddaughters, Valarie Brogdon-Weaver and husband, Marc of Arlington, Texas and Jodi Brogdon of Jonesboro, one brother, Herbert Brogdon of Glenwood, Arkansas and one sister, Laverne ''Dude'' Lewis of Cave City, and a host of relatives and friends.
Doyne was preceded in death by one sister, Willene James.
Pallbearers will be Tim Carter, Jim Crow, Neil Price, Larry Northcutt, Marc Weaver, and Brandon Mobley. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Smith, Michael Johnson, Willis Green, Merel Rupert, Flip Johnson, Don Perkey, Dr. Ben Owens, Jr., and the staff at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
Visitation will be held at Roller-Crouch-McGee Funeral Home in Cave City from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 11, 2010.
Services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m., November 12, 2010 at Roller-Crouch-McGee Chapel with burial following at Fairview Cemetery.
