Gary Dene West, 62, of Strawberry died Sunday, December 27, 2009 at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
He was born February 15, 1947 in Calamine, Arkansas the son of Dene West and Ruth (Mullen) West.
Gary and Linda Diane Clem were married June 6, 1965 in Strawberry. He retired as an inspector for the Arkansas Highway Department. He enjoyed hunting, trapping and fishing. He always said, "There are no big I's or little you's, they are all the same."
He is survived by his wife, Linda Diane West of Strawberry; one son, Michael West and his wife, Lynette of Concord; daughter, Denna Wheeler and her husband, Kenny of Evening Shade; grandchildren, Brandon and Bryce West of Cave City and Jessica and Cody Wheeler of Evening Shade; brothers, Danny West of Okmulgee, Oklahoma and David West of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; and sisters, Joann Conatser of Truman, Patty Huskey of Saffell, and Helen Lackey of Batesville.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Roller-Crouch McGee Chapel in Cave City officiated by Leonard Smith and Roger Randolph.
Burial will be in Milligan Campground Cemetery at Strawberry by Roller-Crouch McGee Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers are Paul Hoggard, George Carter, James Anderson, Ronnie Perkey, Billy Mack, Robbie Mize, James Hoggard and Gene Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Goodwin, Brandon Hoggard, Bryce West, Brandon West, Cody Wheeler, and Jessica Wheeler.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at the funeral home.

I miss you terribly. You were more like a brother to me than you ever were a cousin....Things change in our lives so quick. Never in a million years did I ever think I would get a call like I did concerning you. I love you and I miss you.

All, we are so deeply sorry for your loss. If there is anything we can do, please, let us know.

I lost a great cousin and a good friend of the family. He will be missed but I remember the good times and can look back on them. Linda and the rest of the family have our prayers especially during these next few weeks. Love, Howard and family

I worked with Gary several years and the highway department and had alot of respect for him. He was always so nice and respectful.. I am so sorry for your loss.
