William Ted Short
of Greenbrier, AR
December 4, 1952 - February 26, 2026
Ted was born December 4, 1952, in Moline, Illinois. He was a graduate of Moline High School class of 1971 and loved to play football. Even played some ball while in the Navy. His favorite team was the Chicago Bears. He coached high school football and baseball, plus little league, known as Coach Short. Ted loved to cook, best chili around. He also liked partaking of his creations! And was not one to turn down a good poker game.
His email address calls him the Mocha King for a reason. Ted liked his coffee! One of his first business ventures was a coffee shop and then he went into a janitorial service. In fact, Ted was successful at most all things he attempted. Building a deck, creating a spa-like setting, a jack of all trades - nothing stopped him.
So, above all else what was valuable to Ted? Nothing more than his family. He basically raised two families and was still in that process when he passed. He and Sharon would have celebrated their 50th anniversary April 3rd. You didn't get in a conversation with Ted without hearing about one of the kids!
Ted is on his final journey, but while he was here, he and Sharon loved to travel. The trips usually ended up with visiting relatives, but they always enjoyed the trip to get there. If you ever needed help, he was there!
Ted joined the US Navy while the Vietnam War was active. He enjoyed being a sailor aboard the USS Midway CVA-41. He loved serving his country and time with his shipmates. One of the great joys he had was reuniting his shipmates 40 years later in San Diego where their ship is now a naval museum.
Ted is preceded in death by Bill & Sara Short (Parents) and Pam Pike (sister). He is survived by his wife Sharon Short, Brother: Gary; Sons: Derek Short (April), Todd (Jessi), Adam; Daughter: Sara. Grandchildren: Alexis, Kaleigh, and Kaelyn. Many nephews, nieces, and extended families with many friends! He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all of his family, friends and neighbors. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital or Tower to Tunnels.
