Eugene "Gene" Flippen, age 91, of Mount Vernon, Arkansas, passed away on January 8, 2026. He was born on August 11, 1934, in Naylor, Arkansas, to Elven Norman Flippen and Ruby James Monroe (Brady) Flippen.

He is preceded in death by his wife Marcille Flippen, daughter Teresa Flippen Samuels, his parents, and his siblings Sybil Brady, Fred Flippen, and Mary Bell.

He is survived by his children, Martha Hagerman (Cliff) of Sherwood, Arkansas; Sherry Beeson (Gary) of Mount Vernon, Arkansas; and Greg Flippen (Suzy) of Jacksonville, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and sisters Ruby Nell Goff and Barbara Johnson.

He worked at Wonder Bakery until he retired and then became a full-time gardener, fisherman, hunter, and golfer. In between, he built cakes and pies. He didn't bake, he built! He loved to build keepsakes for loved ones, such as shadow boxes, wooden baskets, dinner trays, planters, coasters, and frames. One could find him on his tractor all spring and summer in his vegetable garden. It brought him great joy to share his bounty with family and friends.

His family was his greatest source of happiness. He loved family gatherings and sharing his life memories with the younger generation. He was very active with the Enola Church of Christ, where he had great friends of every age. He was known as the oldest male of the congregation and for wearing the prettiest shirts.

We will cherish his memory forever.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway, Arkansas. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at 1:00PM at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, burial to follow at Riverwood Memorial Gardens.
