Dixie L. Lokoen

Dixie L. Lokeon (Hoopes), a devoted and loving mother, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, in Paris Arkansas with her loved ones by her side. She was the heart of her family and will be remembered for her unwavering strength, generosity, and independent spirit.

Dixie was born on February 18, 1943, in Mill City, Oregon to her parents, Melvin D. Boatwright and Grace D. (Dunkle) Boatwright. A hardworking woman throughout her life, Dixie believed deeply in providing for her family and leading by example. Her strong will carried her through life's challenges, and her determination inspired everyone who knew her. She was fiercely independent. Dixie worked for AHA-Quin retail store in California as a cashier and store manager and also worked for Cloyes Gear Company in Fort Smith in shipping and receiving. She loved being outside and laying in the sun, fishing for catfish, floating down the river, and working on her farm taking care of all the animals. She had a generous soul and found joy in helping those around her, often putting the needs of others before her own. As a mother she loved deeply and unconditionally, also was a very loving and caring person, she opened her door to anyone in need, she provided a home for foster children in Arkansas for many years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of eighteen years, Stephen Carl Hoopes; two brothers, Dale and Larry Boatwright; three sisters, Beverly Bacchetti, Lynda Clayton and Patricia Wilcox.

She is survived by her son, Wayne Hoopes of Paris, Arkansas; two daughters, Shelley Hamilton and husband, Dennis of Blythe, California and Geraldine Fox and husband, Brian of Manchester, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Tamara Wade, Megan Zandi, Melissa Hoopes, Bambi Barr, Damon Hamilton and Cody Hoopes; ten great grandchildren; several other family members and friends.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris.

There are no services scheduled at this time. Burial services will be held at a later time with family
