With hearts, full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Dorothy Alice (Green) Harkey, who went home to glory December 20 , 2025, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas at the age of ninety two years.
We find peace, knowing she is healed, made whole and now in the presence of Jesus.
Dorothy , daughter of Floyd and Mildred ( Hodge) Green, was born October 20, 1933 in Saline county, Arkansas.
Those left to celebrate her memory include 5 children , Pamela Wehner and her husband Ronald of Lebanon, MO ; Robby Robertson of Ozark, AR; Bruce Harkey and his wife Cindy of Little Rock , AR; Tim Harkey of Paris, AR ; Bryan Harkey and his wife Becky of Paris, AR; 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, along with many other relatives and dear friends.
Those preceding her in death include her parents; her husband, Ted ; her sister, Geraldine Jackson; her stepson Teddy Harkey.
Dorothy graduated St. Vincent Infirmary school of nursing in Little Rock, AR, May 1954. Her career as an RN included many jobs from Little Rock, AR St. Vincent Infirmary; St. Louis, MO Barns -Jewish Hospital ; Paris, AR Logan County Health Department ; Booneville, AR Human Development Center. Dorothy was married to the late Ted Harkey for 34 years. She was a member of several civic groups including the Logan County Library Board Chairman, and the first woman to serve on the Paris School Board from 1975 to 1981. Once retired from nursing at Booneville Human Development Center she was busy oil painting and bargain shopping.
Dorothy knew Jesus, and her faith was lived out not loudly, but faithfully- through integrity, kindness, service and love for her family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the lives she shaped, the values she modeled and the example she set for generations to come.
Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Roller Funeral Home in Paris. The funeral will begin immediately following at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Rev. Harlin Brewton. Cremation will follow the service with burial of cremated remains to be held at a later date at Baxley Cemetery in Paris.
